'Blackhat' is spamming, cloaking, and other secretive methods of cheating to get either more traffic or better search engine placement.

Some people are doing 'blackhat' and didn't even know they were, but others intentionally make spam with no concern at all for content, only results.

The generic term for most of these methods is simply spam.

    Be$t of luck!

You missed out the wonderful wikipedia on the authority links part :)

And, the search engine benefit (highly weighted link) on social bookmarking site is also inevitable ( i recently ranted about it a lil bit at my blog).

Some very good info here. Thanks a bunch.
    I have one question though.
I have a site below that has really no wording its just codes for myspace. Could I add a page with some big news thats happening on myspace ie: /article.php or something like that and then submit to digg? Or is that a blackhat method? Im really not sure and I dont wanna piss anyone off...
Oh and since it wouldnt be to the main page would that just make it useless??
Thanks again for all the great help....

I dont see anything wrong with it. It is not a blackhat method either :D Just try to make that article useful for the readers instead of trying to get links or getting good in SERPS. It is totally fine if it is not to main page it is still to your site right? So nothing to worry about :)

Agreed, this is called link bait, and has been confirmed by matt cutts as being a good method to help your site.
