hi ive been trying with affiliate marketing for around a year, between the good wife and the children, the work, the college and the general life.. so not as far advanced as id like to be but there you go! Ive got a few domains to practice putting things together on, and made a few sales (literally though a few!) but think im getting the idea of a few things that really dont work. Looking at colour and website development to offer a better experience now, initially was focused on money but clearly that isnt the way forward. User experience is far more important for me now and i think if i focus on that a bit more then the sales may well come..... My question is how to assess keyword value, or niche value even. For example i have a site about fitness, and initially thought the keyword would be easy and profitable to aim for. but with this i have put myself in a corner, i rank well for the keyword but this is a 3 word keyword, and i got the ACTUAL traffic far wrong. Now i know that the keyword i chose is not that good, but it is in a very lucrative niche. But a competitive one. so should i continue to grow and develop this site (for items specific such a sports watches with an exact style or code might be easy to rank for) or walk away as ive locked my particular site into a given term ie funkytrainerswitharedstripe.com. (not a real one of mine, but not flippin far off in terms of daft ideas!)ive got a few areas of interest and bought domains and did actually choose around 6 keywords with some traffic, but ive got to no1 in google with them. but dont have a clue how to monetise them. I should and will learn but is there some way of assessing overall value of a given term or niche? Phew!! sorry banged on a bit!! kind regards Alan
hello You will want to use the google adwords keyword tool. It will tell you the popularity of the keywords. Its a very useful tool. For site value, there is many sites out there that offer a site value which is worked out from a couple of key factors. At the end of the day a site is only worth as much as someone will pay for it. Though the stats these sites offer can be very handy. Hope i've helped alittle
thanks for the advice. but ok so google adwords says it has a value. but ive ranked for a few words with said value, but not seeing anywhere near them estimates. recently watched an ed dale (thirty day challenge guy) vid where he was talking about selling sites on flippa. and how he justified some of the sites values with a simple equation he simply spat out, eg "yeah well he values it at 60 dollars with 200 visitors per munth, stick adwords on it and over 3 months you would get your money back", what is all that about? am i missing something about the value of advertising or visitors??? Many thanks Alan
