So... I had this Excel file I wanted to view on my Powerbook. In the office I only use Open Office, which is available for Mac as well. But I noticed a Microsoft Office 2004 Test Drive so thought I'd give it a shot just to satisfy curiosity. Result? The program is frozen, saying the trial has expired (I just installed the trial and it's supposed to be valid for 30 says...) and it won't budge... Rather than blaming MS I guess I can blame myself for even trying their shite...
i hear the mac spits in your face if you swear at it the macs scare me....especially the ones we had in the design labs, they were custom mods g5s or whatever the latest one is..i swear they're smarter than people.
They are the best hardware/OS combination in the world, state of the art for sure, now with the new Intel dual chips they are said to be 4 times faster by Steve Jobs and will be able to run Windows too!
State of the art Ba---Bay http://www.apple.com/macosx/ Bill Gates can't compete with it...... More on the dual Intel processors! http://www.apple.com/intel/ Wintel
bill gates has asperger's syndrome as well....though he hides it quite well just thought i'd throw that out there, my personal experience with people who have asperger's has not been very positive i'm definetly getting a mac when i need to make an upgrade.
Having a Windows box gives you the feeling that someone is following you, it always seems that you are looking over your shoulder for the next disaster to happen
eh in reality, i've experienced like 2 crashes on my laptop. the desktop is a bit worse though, i had a full system crash and the hardrive exploded...taking my freaking graduation essay with it
I lost 3 years of work to Microsoft anti-spyware beta that had a conflict with install shield when it was enabled, it rendered my hard drive unreadable in Windows OS! Now I need data recovery software to read the files, Mushroom turned me on to www.mepis.com a Linux OS, I got the CD from them that can boot from your CD drive on a Windows box and was able to read the files with that! I have purchased my last Microsoft product..... Everyone should go to www.openoffice.org today to find free open source software!
Already switch at the office to OO months ago. Now just installed it on the Mac. The 2.0 version is much better than 1.X and is really an excellent substitute for MS Office. PDF exporting is just one of the many great features.
MS know their stuff - If MS products worked on a mac then you wouldnt need windows hence the incompatability of pocket pc etc Just try the free and open source alternative: http://www.neooffice.org/
I looked at Neo but it's a cut down version of OO. And now OO2.0 is stable on Mac, I really don't see the point of Neo.
open office's been around for quite a few years, my dad first showed me this like.....4 years i think, it was pretty good then and i assume it's even better now
Good work TOPS, glad you made the move to MAC and www.openoffice.org Now everyone get out there and blog and post about these new exciting options that we all have and get the hell away from Windows crappy OS as Steve Jobs calls it!
