It's simple! Learn to use your time more efficiently!! Some tips to start you off: Refrain from participating in forums as much as possible. Don't pull yourself into any argument. Your time is VERY VALUABLE! It may be wise to PAY someone to do what you needed to do. BTW, there are always exceptions such as if you are participating in YOUR OWN FORUM, or if the argument is beneficial to you, etc. AND PLEASE! No posts about being ironic..
How much should I charge you for wasting 3 minutes of my TIME? Edit: While trying to save time I misspelled minutes and to think I'm taking the SAT in two weeks.
You wasted 3 of mine while I was deciding to point on that "mintunes" could be a new mini version of Apple's iTunes... This thread has been very productive so far...
Even if you're on dial up, this shouldn't have used up 3 minutes of your time. So here is another tip: improve your English, learn to read and comprehend faster. Those that think this was a "waste" of time obviously does not understand that something so obvious could be something totally new to another individual. With that said, I am taking my own advice and won't get into arguments. Good luck!
Good advise. Actually I had to remove instant messenger from my work computer because I was doing less work! And forums can trap you the same way too. At least with forums you stand to learn some thing <smiley here>
I do not agree with the Forums point there. When you can learn so much from forums like this, why not?
forums a waste of time ? i think it depends what forums you are a member of DZcap. this weekend i have learnt in 20 mins how to play with RSS feeds on my site thanks to yfs1. I have tried to ad feeds for over 6 months, with the help of this forum i am running RSS in 20 mins. A waste of time i dont think so...
Let's not put words into my mouth. I never said forums are a waste of time, I only said to refrain from participating as much as possible.
Brett Tabke's 27 (or something like that) steps to website success made the point of saying... "participate in forums. You don't get very much from them if you are simply a silent observer." So, there are very successful webmasters out there who disagree with your position and yet make very good money.
You missed his point. He didn't say NOT to partisipate in forums, he is talking about NOT making forums too much of a distraction for you from your real work. One can get easily carried away with forums, and just for the record not learn any thing. Some people get involved in way too many forums, and in the process take away valuable time from thier work, no one said forums were not beneficial. But too much of any thing can be bad
Link in siggy = website promotion also, is never a waste of time posting on forums, altho u should work on your own site also (goes without saying really)
Well dzcap, I think you are falling two things you said one should not do: Participate in forums Being pulled into arguments... While I agree about the arguments thing, I don't agree with the forums thing... Participating in forums and reading others post can be very valuable sometimes unless you are really joining useless forums
What a crock of horse manure. Participating in forums is not a waste of time. Hell, If it wasn't for DP, I would still think that PM meant Prime Minister. PR stood for Public Relations. The Co Op was a British Supermarket, and a Tool was a general name for a screwdriver. Where would I be today without priceless information like that.
I didn't particpate in this forum I wouldn't know Mella and that's worth more than any amount of cash
Now this is ironic Thats what we call a poorly organized run on sentence, perhaps you should take some of your own advice.
