    My favorite Guacamole recipe is as follows:

    Ingredients:

    * 2 large ripe avocados
    * 1 large lime
    * 2 shallots
    * 6 cherry tomatoes
    * 1 large clove of garlic
    * 1 small red chili
    * A packet of corn chips

    To make up:

    In a large bowl cut the avocados and remove the soft, green flesh. Mash with a fork. Add the juice of the lime. Cut the shallots, cherry tomatoes, garlic and chili very finely and mix thoroughly with the avocado. Serve with corn chips. Delicious!

    Guacamole is a gift from the gods.

    All we need now are (quite) a few margaritas :)

    I know it sounds awful, but try guacamole with COLD brown rice. It's good.

    That recipe is very "chefy" to make it sound good. You don't need all that for a good guacamole.

    All you need is avocado, lemon, pepper, and corn chips.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guacamole

    Most Mexican and Spanish restaurants have it. But it's much better (and easier) to make your own.

    I agree, you can get away with the bare minimum if you have to. But the chilli, garlic and shallots (aka spring onions in AU) are what really make it for me. The more garlic the better :D

    You are taking away from the avocado which should be the dominant flavor IMO.

    On these cooking shows they add all these flavors to make something which is very simple sound complicated :D

    Nice Recipe, Fatherspirit! I'm impressed, that's a pretty authentic recipe. Guacamole has it's beginnings in Aztec times, so it's been around for a while.

    For those who think it's too healthy to be good - there is a large amount of fat in avocados that give guacamole an amazing rich flavor. The good news is that it's healthy (non-saturated) fat, so it's good for you as well.

    My humble suggestion for an additional ingredient would be to add 1/4 to1/2 teaspoon of cumin to the original recipe. It adds a nice, smoky flavor that adds another dimension to the guac.
