I started my blog on the 22nd of this month. When I started it I said I would do it for a year and see where I am at that stage, and that's what I plan to do, give the blog the time to get lots of content and for the search engines to fully index and rank it. So far of course hits are minimal, I have started posting comments on other tv and film blogs and hopefully in time can build up some 'relationships' on those sites. But I am struggling to think how else I will get hits, other then Google but that takes time, I won't expect much from them for about 6 months. It seems like it will be a long and tedious affair, I have confidence in my articles being interesting (hopefully), but I wonder whether it will all be worth it, although I keep saying all it takes is one article to take off, get good backlinks, get good hits etc and everything can change. Apart from socal networking what other good ways is there to generate interest?
Build links via social bookmarking (see the link in my sigs for dofollow sites to submit to as well as tools), directory submissions, article marketing, and the like. What method are you planning on incorporating as far as monetization is concerned?
Build backlinks Depsite all other ways of building backlinks, posting on DP is good, too. I've noticed my blog is starting to get backlinks from DP when I put it into my signature... Find popular blogs with similar niche and start commenting there - you might also try to persudae the owner of those blogs to make blogroll exchange. Social bookmarking This one really helps - you just need some good articles and submit them to many SB sites and sooner or later one of the articles will become popular and your traffic will get pimped a lot Also release free resources related to your niche - for example, if your blog is about tv and such, you should from time to time post some useful links to newest tv shows, links for download, codeck and good movie player downlaod links and such... this will bring some traffic, too. Finally, don't forget about 'Content is king'. Just take your time and build quality content. It may take months to pull off but if your articles will be good enough, you will become popular, it's just matter of time.
