    Hey All,
I am just in search for ideas, hope you guys can help. I opened a Software Discussion Forum. All type of software will be discussed there along with reviews and ideas.

    1. What I want to know is how can I increase activity in the forum? How can I get visitors to perticipate?

As its a new forum, there are like no posts. What would make visitors post?

Drop in your ideas guys. Thank you

I am thinking of hiring 5 posters at $5 per 100 threads. What do you think of the idea?

    Thank You

Start few threads that can grab attention of people, involve people to participate from your direct contacts.

I would recommend read these tips for forum owners and see how you can promote and grow your forum wisely.

Me too had these issues when my forum was new but now after working hard I think my forum is in a good shape now :)

Your idea will work to get some post, but after you pay them their money, it will go dry. So if you could do that along with getting some targeted people, who you don't have to pay, to visit your forum, you may be in good shape. It's all about marketing it right. Hope it works out.

Maybe one way is to start writing your own stuff in the forum and then linking into the forum, hopefully people will then reply to it if you leave it open. I agree with the previous posts as well, a natural forum takes time and cant really be faked that well. Good luck with it though!

You could write an article that is effectively a review of a particular software product ... one for every product would give you lots of articles to distribute - with links to forum.

Consider giving special rights to people with a certain activity level. Good topics is also a factor, pay for forum posters if you want to.

I have decided to close the project and develop a full software portal. I have started my work so lets see how things go.

I will be making a dowload site.

Wide range of topics and subbranches may not be good for a new forum in my mind.

the most important part of making a forum is patience. it might take a long time for your forum to become active, but just wait. it also helps to advertise a little
