Group VB.NET project, for DP members

I've got an idea for a project, something that DP members would really like... I've told a couple DP members, but don't think they'll actually take the time to write it...

Anyways, anyone want to participate in a group VB.NET project? PM me or post here for details...

Ok, I sent e-mails out to everyone...

Waiting on feedback... Not sure how many people would be ideal for this project, so if anyone else is interested, let me know

Ok, there's like 5 people interested...

I know most would like to do something web based, but atleast 1 other wants to do it as a desktop app... maybe we could have a race :)

Or if you design it properly and have the Business logic abstracted from the UI so it doesnt matter if you have a web or a windows front end.

Also if you could send me the information.

    Thanks

I think what JenniP mentioned is a good idea. It could eventually be for all three if you want.

Also if your doing distributed development (IE Development with more than one person in more than one place), it will be best to get the source control and bug tracking set-up very early otherwise people are just going to step on each others toes.

I like the feedback I've gotten so far...

I'm interested to see how far this project goes...

    I know ASP (+HTML/CSS) (4 years experience), VB6 (6 years experience), VB.NET (2 years) and a little JAVA ...

I'd be all for the web app, but I'm wondering how much bandwidth this type of thing would consume...

Having seen what the project is but of course not spoiling anything.

I don't think it would take that much bandwidth at all even if you went for the web option, the "business end" of the website would take less bandwidth than the advertising side of the website.

Like any web project bandwidth requirements can be lowered by optimising caching and using HTTP Compression.

    Hey guys...

If anyone's still interested, I found the old initial prototype of what I was imagining for this project... PM me with your e-mail and I'll send you the VB.NET 2005 express source code... :)
