I am thinking about testing a group buying site.
There was a lot of "Group buying" sites in 2000 : Clust, letsbuyit,...
But they got no success :(

Do you think a "Group buying" site could work well in 2007?

I think so... If you have good suppliers / products and serious customers and trust should be good !!

something i would be intrested in ... i would like to supply some high value goods from china.

To test it, I was thinking in an "intermediation" model (without stock, shop,...)
    Example, build a 50 000 members community,
propose them few product very "hype" : an iphone, a PS3 , a 105 cm LCD.

When I have 5000 members interested (example a LCD 20% off market price),
I find a shop that want to sell 500 LCD in 24 hours.

hmm things like iphones , PS3s and electrical goods are a very competative market... so even group buying you wont find that much of a discount because its very unlikely these factorys will sell direct to you.

Maybe the niche is not good.

Looking at the Amazon 10% commissions,
I was thinking a 15/20% rebate (+5% commission) was possible from other shops less known.

How much rebate do you think you could get with group buying ? Do you think an other niche (Travel, Events,...) will be easier to manage ?
