Personal reasons cited by him. After the mess between him and the senior guys, it would have been difficult for him to stay.

Greg's good, but he isn't the right man to coach the side he was in charge of at the world cup.

You can't blame him for it, but as I have said, Greg's good but the not right person.

i guess it is party time!!
but then i have told this in the morning, you can have your way with saurav, but then if you try to fight sachin, you are gone!! in india, sachin can not be fought!!
and i was expecting this to happen!!

though am not exactly happy, as there in nothing left in cricket for the indians after the world cup, so these news don't really matters now!

if bad performance had been the reason, he wud've resigned soon after the world cup trashing. This, rather not surprisingly, comes immediately after the Sachin outburst to the media.

good riddance. Everything about him was just wrong for the indian team, ranging from his attitude to the way he played cricket (oldtimers will remember his "underarm" bowling incident) and not to mention is flop tactics

I thank god that he resigned!
He is just blaming others so that he could hide his faults...anyways Now 'Team India' will bounce back and it will be as good as ganguly's comeback in the team

smart move by greg chappel - BCCI wasn't going to renew his contract anyway after world cup debacle, division in team and rift with players

    You can't blame Greg.

At the time of john wright, he allowed the seniors in the team to grab complete control of the team. Wright was just there for namesake. Chappel is more tough and he will not allow that. He wants complete control. Teams seniors cant bear that. That is the problem. EGO clash between a good coach and a group of very well known senior players.

Same thing happened with Woolmer in Pakistan. INzi and his friends were running the team and it ruined us.

Excellent. Countries like India and Pakistan where Cricket is religion, no non-sense attitude does not survive and that got the best of both goras. In emotional nation like India - only those survive who are good with politics - who cares about sport. I look forward to India becoming Sri Lanka of the 80s (get thrashed in every single game) and then some day somewhere some kid will show up - Jayasuriya type and then rule the cricket world (at least for 4 years).

See thats the problem - Srilanka is not because of only JaySurya. He is just one of important player. Sri Lankas success attributes to lot of current (Murli, Sangakkara etc) and former (remember Arvinda DeSilva, Rantunga) players.
