Last week I got most of the CS3 Programs from Adobe. It's been a couple years since I have done anything web related, but I got the itch to start working on them again.

My first question is what size canvas do you guys work from in Photoshop now that there are outrageously high resolutions used?

Secondly, I was told Fireworks is a good go-between Photoshop & Dreamweaver. Can somebody explain why and how?

The only program relatively familiar to me is Photoshop... but last version I used was 5.5. I'll be taking a Dreamweaver course starting in January since that really is different then anything I've ever used.

    Thanks!

Well, the canvas size depends entirely on what you're designing (eg. If it's a web page, you're going to stick to 1024x768 most likely). :)

And I'm not sure how Fireworks is a good go-between, because those are completely different packages (One is for graphics, the other for coding). Maybe someone else can elaborate there? :S

it's a good go-between (or used to be anyway, not sure so much now) because if you made a graphic in FW then it'd import into dreamweaver and flash much easier (mainly for flash). But you can get on fine without it.

Yea... it is canvas size for web creation that I was wondering about. There is such a huge range of display resolutions people use nowadays.... from 800x600 all the way up to 1950+

yeah, just stick with like 1000x 700 roughly for a web page cause most people dont have monitors above 17 inches.

almost all of the traffic to my site is from 1024x768 monitors or 1280x1024 (19" LCD)
