Has anyone noticed that what might appear to be a PR less directory could actually have PR attributed to inner categories even though the higher level shows grey? Is this something that is well known or something I've simply stumbled on?
http://www.zorg-directory.com/science/ PR N/A http://www.zorg-directory.com/science/energy/ PR N/A http://www.zorg-directory.com/science/energy/renewable-energy/ PR 2 i have been saying all along, enough unique content such as listed sites and articles, like the PR2 example I showed will allow the PR to show on the toolbar. It is likely the two parent categories of the example in ZD i showed will have PR, it is just been hidden on the toolbar to avoid link buyers coming along. It's a win-win situation for google - it stops empty directories from showing off PR to the public. The same case with empty blog category pages.
Thanks Mike, saves me reeling off a thousand directories just like this. I fond one with grey through to three deep, then a PR3, strange or what.
I remember I saw an0n's directory listed in eWebPages.org with a PageRank 2 for that detail page. It is strange that the directory PageRank was 0... I saw that some time ago...dunno if now it is the same...too lazy and sleepy to check it. Thanks, hyper
My own personal directory, which I've tended to neglect these past couple of weeks due to lack of time, was PR0 through 2 updates (Oct 2007, Jan 2008) while a couple of internal categories had PR1 and PR2. Then the most recent update saw the homepage go to PR3, all internal categories/sub-categories to PR0, and only one (that I've come across!) Details page with a PR1. Seems to me unique content is the only way to achieve internal PR on a directory
I think in the near future we will see many Green-Gray-Gray-and so on, "type" of directories. As far as I saw, the tendecy is to get PR on main and then N/A on the rest.
When gaygle is at the helm, it doesn't matter how 'serious' one can be. The more directories I come across running phpld, the stronger I feel that the script is being targeted. (hence the green, gray, gray, gray affect). The few pr5's and 6's out there are blackhatting.
Pretty powerful theory there an0n. Don't agree with all PR5's and 6's using blackhat, I know one for a fact that doesn't. The problem with phpld is it became the first popular script and bred a subculture of people who saw the potential to exploit Google and did just that. Most are paying the price for that now. The old saying live for today because tomorrow may never come is Bull****, it very nearly always does, if your prepared for that then anyone can make a serious attempt at a long term future. As much as Gaygle as you call it has become dictatorial, for the time being at least people would be wise just to accept that fact and play by their rules. Sooner or later there will be a David that comes along to slay Goliath, but until that time I for one plan to listen to Goliath. If he says jump I'll say 'how high'.
Well as everyone knows I am always 100% honest and wouldn't say something without proof to back it up. So with that being said, I know of 5 right offhand that are doing it. They are active on DP to boot. Anywho, as far as what you say about Gaygle, if people actually realized how deeply Gaygle is tied into politics; just to name one of the facets, I don't think they would believe in the whole 'David and Goliath' theory any longer. I sure a heck don't. On a lighter note, the whole 'subculture ' theory of yours I can pretty much agree with.
Wouldn't surprise me at all. Indeed we are. I've learned to agree to disagree as well as learn to accept what others have to say and feel. oh btw, someone apparently didn't like what I had to say in my initial post of this thread and felt compelled to dish out a little red... hahaha.. probably the owner. oh well, too bad.
Best way to be. I got so much red it looks like my CP got a bad case of acne, the green that comes from the one's that count makes up for it though. I never give red as it costs me one, and the only one who I like giving one is my Girl.
Hahaha. Nice one Jamie, I'll be sure to nominate this one for 'Post of 2008' at the end of the year Another point I thought I'd make out of sheer lazyness of starting a new thread, the Google Directory PR's were updated in the early hours this morning, my main site had quite a jump up the ladder, which I'm evidently pleased about, nonetheless, if any of you have directories that are listed in the G directory, go across and check out your 'latest' (not 'new', by any means!) pagerank Might be of interest, at least to somebody
