I signed up for a Green Geeks account 3 weeks ago. After paying $65.40 USD to them for a year of hosting, they refused to give me access to the account. So I asked for my money back. But they never returned it, and after contacting them numerous times, they still have not paid me back. It looks like the Green Geeks is run by Trey Gardner. Has anyone else heard of this hosting company, Green Geeks, do you know if they're known for scams like this?
Something is missing from your story. There has to be a reason they aren't giving you the account. What reason are they telling you?
You must research for a best hosting first rather than jump into Green Geeks. You are being deceived because you are not research carefully. Better to host with BlueHost, HostGator, MediaTemple, or ServInt.
To address WSWD's question, the Green Geeks rep said there was no staff that day to 'verify' my account and to try talking to them the following day or so. They advertised their service as quick easy account access and I had the whole day to work on it and finish and couldn't afford to lose a day or more waiting. I have contacted them a lot, and never got a reply from anyone except the same Vance K. person via chat. I have a dispute via PayPal, but there's no response from that either. I never got any account access or any service and they still have my money (as if Green Geeks plans to steal it). It is not right to take people's money like that and justice needs to happen.
Was it on the weekend or something, when their sales staff was gone? A lot of companies only staff support on the weekends, and not sales or billing. If that's not the case, I'm not sure what the issue might be. It shouldn't take days to get your account setup. Also just to note, the PayPal disputes always take some time, as they also contact the seller and allow them a chance to respond to the dispute. After that, they will get back to you (and the seller) with the outcome. You can probably count on it taking two weeks or so.
WSWD, the initial order was in the middle of the week. The rep didn't give a good reason for withholding access other than what I already mentioned above. And the reason now doesn't matter now, because it was canceled the moment he told me about the delay and I was supposed to get a refund the next day according to the rep. Green Geeks have shown themselves as unprofessional and quite incompetent and it's a given that I'd never use their services and will warn everyone to beware. It's approaching a month now and they still haven't given me my money back and still no response from billing despite numerous attempts to contact them. I would have previously thought they were well established company and I'm surprised at their actions. Has anyone else had an issue with them?
Once you dispute, most companies won't contact you further and everything will be through Paypal. Has your dispute been resolved?
No, they still have not responded and they still have my money. They haven't responded to the PayPal dispute thing- basically they have my money and nothing seems to be happening. It's pretty unfair that GreenGeeks is doing this to people. Beware!
May I know you have the same thread in Webhostingtalk? its seem like the same story and the green geeks is responding in Webhostingtalk, why not cope in one forum to avoid any misunderstanding?
They finally paid. Billing never did reply, but a rep said 'it slipped through the cracks'. Interesting how direct messages and chatting with them never got me paid, but as soon as I started posting publicly on forums, I did. Caution to anyone looking for hosting from Green Geeks, as they have not proven to be trustworthy.
Great and you may proceed to find your next host, becareful in chosing your host and make sure to clarify everything before pay.
It is good to hear that it worked out for you. I don't know about the reputation of Green Geeks but overall when you are purchasing a hosting plan do a good bit of research for reviews across hosting industry forums. It is always a good first line of defense against running into future problems.
Each of you are giving me advice as if I should learn from Greek Geeks refusing to pay me, or as though I could have avoided this situation. 1. I DID do research 2. I DID clarify terms and details upfront 3. THEY DID NOT provide the fast and easy service they advertised (not given access to the account!) 4. THEY DID NOT refund my money until nearly a month later, only after escalating the issue to forums and saying I will make it public. I have lots of experience in dealing with hosts with some excellent ones I'm using now, but this company is the opposite of that. I have not learned anything except to avoid GREEN GEEKS like the plague. My advice is to beware of them!
Noted, need not worry as we are sharing our opinion with you. So what is your plan for your next host? did you find any other host that suitable for you?
I haven't found another host yet, but chose to use my existing Hostmonster account for the time being- I am happy with them for the most part.
