Hey all, Just finished the work for the new client (based on there lack of requests...) The usual, what would you change, what sucks, etc. Haven't SEO'd it yet, so content and navigation more than anything else. Thanks in advance...again... View here - Greenbelt Project
Overall quite nice and clean looking. There are a few things that I would change though: • Your animated gif does not line up with the images to the left and right of it • You could put a background over the whole site • You should "frame" the site using a technique like: http://www.mymoveoverseas.com/education.php. (The shadows on the left and right) • I would consider putting 1px borders around the images, this will bring them together more. • Reduce the font size for the contact details at the bottom. Hope you find these suggestions useful Good luck notting
I liked all the suggestions, and am going to put them into play when I hand code it. The publisher I use is junky, but it is a WYSIWYG editor that allows me to move things around in seconds. (Needed because most clients change there minds every two minutes.) Just a question which browser were you using that wasn't lining up correctly? I know that some don't display properly and I want to narrow it down.
Hello Ejudicator. I had a chance to look at your GreenBelt site today. My Thoughts Domain Name Wow! Thats a long name. Is this your permanent web address or will you seek a shorter one? Header Excellent header. Simple and straight to the point. Reflects everything that your site is about. Template Your template is well layed out but some of your text is unreadable in FireFox, Internet Explorer & Opera. Please see image below: I tested the template in the different browsers and it all seem to display properly. For the template, I would also recommend a tan colored background. This would tone down on the brightness of the site. Donation Page I found that your donation page threw me off slightly because it was different than your main template. I also lost the main navigation buttons. Could it be designed to go within your main template? Greenbelt Forum I think that you should integrate your forum within your template. In my own experience, I've found it annoying having to go to another area and signing up there for information. It is possible to integrate such features. Contact Us Page I would recommend a form for this page. I find that people (like myself) prefer to use forms rather than having to go to another page to open up their webmail... or have to open their email program to send a note. Greenbelt Map Cool! I like it! Search page I think that you would be best to integrate a search option into each page rather than a link to a search page. Navigation I found it difficult to have to navigate through your site with your navigation links at the bottom of your site. Is it possible to put the navigation links just below the header? I do appreciate that you include the 3 most important navigation links which are: Home, About Us, and Contact Us. Conclusion Overall... its an excellent website with a lot of work that went into it. It just needs some adjustments and will provide as a good tool for your educational and informational needs. This review was done with 3 web browsers (FireFox 2.0.0.9, Internet Explorer 6.02 & Opera 9.24) on Windows XP SP2. I do hope this was helpful to you. Much Respects, Lhlalyam
Though your domain name is long and hard to remember, your site is nice and simple. Your header, just fine - maybe add effects to the text to break the simple look. Good luck!
See, time and time again I have seen "your domain is too long". And you are all very right (you thought I was mad at the critique, GOTCHA..lol) I want every DP'er to know that my client has had horrible luck with netNation, a web host provider, located in Vancouver BC Canada. My client tried to register the original domain, which is the first part of the current, with the .ca attached--but they have a 21 day migration to actual domain (which is nonsense) and after I finish the project I will have to recode the actual "greenbeltforhealth.ca" links within. I also want people to know that reporting, stats, any basic service that other hosts provide, are pay-as-you-go with netNation. They want to charge my client a host fee of 14.95/month (not including the domain reg.) with an additional cost of 14.95 a month for webalizer2 tracking. This has got to be the worst host company I have ever seen...at the same time I want to thank the above reviewers, I am going to be inputting a lot of your suggestions, as I liked them all. Keep an eye out and I will re-post the project when I have actually completed it to the clients specs.
