about blackmore, i would say that he definitely has been an exceptional guitar player, giving some of the greatest riffs ever known in history. I had even written a blog on The Greatest Rock Guitar players Ever, and had included him in my Top-5 , but actually some people then criticized me for doing so... but still i would stick to it !
I think its a matter of personal taste. When it comes to lead guitarist, I'm a big fan of Joe Satriani.
Rock guitarist would have to be Brian May or Clapton, Hendrix was awesome, but I don't really seem him as a rock guitarist, still, Red House is probably my favourite song ever.
Well, joe satriani is a must mention in this list, coz he has been the teacher of many well known guitarists, like Kirk Hamett, and Steve Vai( i prefer steve vai more though! )... He's A Really versatile guitar player, as he has done some nice tunes like 'always with me ....' and a hard riff like 'extremist' at the same time too! ... Also, Johnny Mc Laughlin and Brian May were also really amazing players, and Mc Laughlin is also in the rolling stones' list of Guitar players too....
Classic Rock Magazine ranked Stevie Ray Vaughan #3 in their list of the 100 Wildest Guitar Heroes in 2007. OP should of done their homework and made a poll with more choices. i saw Stevie Ray , The Moody Blues and 10 Years After a long time ago. i think he's the best guitarist.
