Your blog is up and you are busy writing and adding information but what you need more than anything is visitors to enjoy reading what you have written. Social networks Social networks are websites that are driven by the community. So they provide community driven content which means you do less work if you own one (although moderating one is enough work in itself!) This has to be one of my most active traffic generation methods and there are plenty to choose from including Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, MyBlogLog, and other less popular ones. Articles Writing articles is still one of the most effective ways to drive traffic to your site. Not only because the article site will feature them but also because other people will use them in their blogs, on their websites, in their ezines and in other places online. As each article contains your signature file with your details in it (which must remain as part of the conditions of people using your article) you are given free advertising on other people's sites! Podcasts A podcast is an audio which has been given a special xml link. The great thing about podcasts rather than audio is the fact that people can download your audio mp3 file and listen to it whenever they want to using their ipod, PDA, computer or other device. The other great thing about podcasts is the fact that people can subscribe to them using an RSS link which is shown as an orange button. A subscriber clicks on that link and all your podcasts are automatically downloaded, which means they do not have to keep returning to your site to download your latest podcast. Social Book Marking Sites It has now become popular to add your articles, blog posts, videos and podcast to popular social book marking sites like Stumbleupon, Digg and Del.ici.ous because people can vote on them as well as save them for future reference. The more votes you receive the higher up your post is moved and the more it is shown on the site. These are fantastic places to get instant targeted traffic because people will naturally come over and take a look at your site after reading your post on a social book marketing site.
You have left out a basic but what i feel is the most important factor, which is: Write very good posts, because this is what people are coming to the blog for. Ive learned that if you write junk, you get junk in return, it doesn't matter how hard someone promotes outside of the blog, the content must be what people see as worth even coming to a blog for. Without patting myself on the back too much, ive gotten much better at blogging over the last year and you could say that i now "get it" im understanding what works with regards to content, how its presented, how helpful it may be, whether some of it is filler content. Also looking at your analytics and seeing what people are searching for to land on your blog, theres so many hints at what you could post on your blog that will lead to traffic. I actually setup my first blog at blogger (dont use them now) in 2005 and ive seen a change since then, ive learned and still i see most people refuse to accept that you must be offering something great on your blog. A blog must be focused, not full of roundups or rewritten content and trying to promote using the latest fad methods.
Yes, options provided by you are really worth to get traffic, you can add Guest Blogging, Development, Knowledge and freebies sharing etc on the list.
i agree, that you should post unique and good content that be able to attract visitors, will any one like to give a little focus on posdcasts?
here is a blog having great ways to increase your blog traffic http://my-blog-traffic.blogspot.com ..
Pingler.com is essential and an absolute goldmine for ease of pinging your blog. They ping 91 services for free! Also, Onlywire.com will do social bookmarking for you to dozens of sites (you need to have accounts at those sites, so there's a little set-up time involved), again for free.
My link building strategy for my blog is 1. Post frequently 2. After posting ping and social bookmarking my blog 3. Join in forum 4. Comment on blog within my work at home blog niche 5. Post article on ezine.com 6. Submit directory
thanks a lot, i got very great advice here.... but, carlabo (am I mistake?) said, marketing is the king... .
try these two new and promising techniques to drive instant traffic to your sites for free...I am using it now for a while and it brings good results....these techniques are particularly interesting for new sites that lack initial flood of traffic... Free Traffic Ad Blog and Instant Buzz Traffic then I would suggest that you move forward with submission to SEs, directories, article marketing...you may then start with link exchanges...if you have a unique and promising product than set up an affiliate program...
Another great way to drive traffic to your blog would be by creating a lens. Make it as interesting as possible, use creative writing techniques, and your visitors will surely take the next step in visiting your blog. Another great resource is Hubpage. It is almost like squidoo and it acts as another direct link to your blog. Write a good hub and you will see more traffic.
good contents, funny comments and images really can make visitors coming back again and again. especially the sexy images
For sure - images can pick up a lot of organic traffic. If you can find royalty free images that you can use on your site, and then tag them correctly, you will get traffic.
I agree...but you have definitely to focus and tagging them SEO friendly with your Keywords...this can bring substantial traffic...with Wordpress there are a few nice plugins that take care of the Image tagging process...
