Ok... I just thought of this... I have before submitted articles to slashdot.org, which has PR 9. It seems to me that if you are on there, even for a short time, this would give you some PR. Also, since slashdot has many feeds, and it's articles are posted on so many sites, you would also build a huge amounts of backlinks. Even if the article comes from another site, you always have a link of your own that gets posted along with the story. I have gotten 3 articles in for 10 attempts... perhaps that is they new way to build PR? What do you think? Brian
No, that's not the way it works. You would get quite a bit of traffic from those links submited, yes, but pagerank wouldn't really be passed on because it's only for a short duration. pagerank updates only happen every 3-4 months and googlebots detect things on a regular basis. I think submitting links are only more for traffic than PR.
Ok, maybe not from the main site, but what about the blogs etc. that are everywhere? For example, look at these results: http://www.google.ca/search?q=cayde...ient=firefox&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:unofficial That reflects my two accepted slashdot submissions. Now, had I added my links to those submissions, I would have had backlinks on alot of those sites.
ok, so you get some 'ok' SERPs, but who's going to be searching for that? you only see ~200 results which means there aren't a lot of sites listing those keywords. I still hold to thinking that it's only a good way for some instant traffic.
Caydel, if you do find a secret that allows you to raise your PR without link exchanges, it may not be a wise idea to come into a forum and tell everyone about it. The reason I say this is because there are seasoned webmasters here who have secrets they won't share with you or anyone else. Even those so called get rich books don't tell you all the secrets. Plus, once a gazillion people are using the same strategy, it could hurt you in the long run. Remember, you run a business and you have competition. Never tell them your secrets. By the way, I do know of a way to get your link on high pr pages without link exchanges for long periods of time or permanently. But I'm not going to start a thread and tell everyone about it, because it was something I discovered through hard work and intuition. And what good is it if everyone figures it out? One of the reasons adsense and running an internet business in general is so cool is because 80% of the population doesn't know you can make residual income online.
