I made a list of tips on how to choose a good domain name. Domain name is a big factor when it comes to SEO that is why that you give it a time first to think for a good domain name before buying one. Here are some tips that can help when choosing a good domain name: http://yourdailyguide.org/great-tips-on-choosing-a-good-domain-name/ If you have some tips that is not in the list, please do share so others will also know about it.
Definitely check if other TLDs have been registered under the same domain name, and if you have the .com version of it (and are not infringing on the trademarks of others), do a WHOIS lookup and send an email to the owner of the other TLD to see if they'd like to own the .com version.
Available Domains: Dare not to think about it, and if you can't help it anymore, then just get it for the $10 chance before someone else does hehehe.. But remember to save money and that "a name you skip on, can be used to buy a better name, later" (Just make a list of those you can wait to think about, and think about it during the day) Often times names on the list look worse and worse later, perhaps one name on the list looks better and better (different time perspectives) Sometimes the best available terms can be found once we realize we have almost exhausted our own knowledge in the WhoIs and its time for external advice - USE WIKIPEDIA to find new terms and terms highlighted in your niche that you weren't able to think of yourself.. Google Newsing a possible registration is a #2 step to Wikipedia.. Remember, you don't have to solve the theory of the universe in one moment here.. usually, it's healthy to hold a bunch of domains in a portfolio for prospect development; then, just choose the ones you want to advance until there is only one shining as your best in your mind (which you strive to spend at least 50% of your web time on or more - "Opportunity Cost") Don't feel bad about dropping domains, or having registered in "a moment".. It's part of the experience (dropping).. You have to be in the game for yourself to win.. The few ones you hold on to again and again, those gems, will make the entire experience spectrum worthwhile in time.. If you can't reg it, try to freely email your available cash offers to others' holdings.. Simple: If you want a name as your brand, you want to appreciate it feeling better and better about it :> Have a special day, Pumice
Whenever I hear a buzzword or get a great idea I always head straight to my account to purchase a domain name if available. As long as it's keyword rich and descriptive I usually buy it. So I agree with your tips.
Yes of course .. use - (slash) will have better result then not. exp : home-improvement dot com .. better then homeimprovement dot com or home_improvment dot com
You may be right but... Hyphenated Domain Names It all depends on the situation, let’s say that the domain name that you wanted is already taken so you can go and add hyphens and check if it’s available. As much as possible, I avoid using hyphenated domains because people will easily forget the hyphens and might go to your competitor’s website instead of yours. If said verbally, people said it without the hyphens so those were just some reasons why it is not a good idea to choose hyphenated domain names.
