I just used htmlblender for a psd to css conversion, and the quality of the work is outstanding! Pretty good for 100 bucks! Anyone else know of any good companies that do similar work?
Any good web designer will be able to do it, after all, they do it with every design after they've designed it I'm a pretty loyal person however, if I use a company once and they do a fantastic job, you'll struggle to get me to switch.
Honestly, the only reason I went that route was because the client gave me this crazy design, and said make it happen!
That's actually a rather simple slice design, less slices auto generated into tables = less css Div & content styling. They do appear to have done a decent job with it though
They told me that the font was not web friendly, so they had to make images. Can it be done without images? I would rather do it with text. Thanks.
Of course you can do it without images. CSS menus. You can have mouse-over effects and it looks less plain; like you are really browsing interactive content instead of just hyperlinked pieces of graphics.
Yeah the job is decent. I agree with scorpion though the design seemed simple enough. At least you found someone who didn't charge you outrageously. I saw one guy who wanted to charge $1000 for a psd to wordpress conversion..which is crazy. Especially when the standard is about 200-300
Urm NO it isn't Do you realise how long it takes to make a good, full XHTML/CSS Strict compatible Wordpress template? If you pay $200 for a WP template custom coded you'll get some half arsed job from a 14 year old "professional" that disappears as soon as you point out a mistake
Wordpress themes are in a category of their own. I remember trying to customize k2, eventually I gave up and stuck with just editing the header image.
I'd love to find a good coder for my WP themes. I've got quite a few and am loyal to quality people. PM me if interested.
I can do it, just most people don't have the budget for a high quality WP theme. For most my clients I modify the Thesis Theme, which I believe provides an excellent base for working on, I've produced stuff like this off it - www.calgarylodge.ca It looks nothing like the original, but its handy having all the files / css already pre-written then I just modify to suit, which is easier than having to type all the css out from scratch everytime
PSD TO XHTML CSS is a hard work that requires professionalism and reliability. Many programmers working to assure the best quality, checking the W3C Compliance, hand-coding code in Dreamweaver, Slicing PSD, meeting strict deadline of 24 hours turnaround, that's all about!
