Yo! What do we need to do to make this work? http://kaqoo.com/learn_more.html Use our software on your site, with your brand, set your own prices and make money.................. We want to f***, sorry, beat, eBay. Free software, set your own prices, we take only 20%, you earn 80%. Users love us (see our forums); simple to use and easy to promote. All suggestions gratefully received!
The same way ebay did it...advertise all over the fucking place, submit articles and quick tips, and get word of mouth going. Those are, basically, the only three real ways for any site to be sucessful.
lol ok, ok...advertise in a few places, and build it up to the point where you can do it all over the fucking place.
Hi anarmyofme, Good question! That is something I have been mulling over for a while now............. Obviously we provide the software, free, to be added to your website, you can set your own prices and Kaqoo split the income 80/20 in your favour. If your site has many members it is great for keeping folks on your website and checking out the ads you would undoubtedly show. Do you think it is worth having an affiliate program for those who may not want to run the software? Is it something YOU would sign up for? What sort of payout would make you sign up for a referral program? I am really interested in your thoughts as it will help to clarify mine!
One reason they grew was they got so big by having free adverts on google (or discounted) for everything. I could search "bananna" and get a "Bid for Bananna on Ebay - blah blah blah" which just took me to the home page. I'm pretty sure they didn't pay for half of those adverts, if any. Here is my pessimistic side: Its VERY hard to beat a monopoly. I don't think you will. Ebay works. It would be like trying to beat Google. Also, you're taking 20% of what?
dakingofkings, Part of Mediacorp who own several TV stations in Singapore, yes, their ads are going to be shown and cheaply (free?) . Still only in Singapore and unlikely to expand too much further. As a Singaporean company selling to a 4M population, they have limited reach. It is also a different market, they are giving free ads to everyone, I wonder who will care outside SIN? In fact, outside of SIN has anyone heard of them? However, having said that, they are great in SIN and have a great site; it is possible they can go much further. I believe that with the "open source type model", Kaqoo could go even further with the power of the people behind it. JMO. spark911 The $400M I mentioned is what eBay spend each year with Google; this doesn't include the referral fees and other advertising. Linux v Microsoft Google v Alta Vista Toyota v General Motors Dyson v Hoover If you don't try, you will never beat a monopoly...................... Why not "dare to dream" with us? You use the software on your site, you charge your users fees for listing (as eBay do), we process the fees, you get 80%, we get 20%. If you don't charge auction fees, we take the little income we get from showing our ads. Simple really! Great comments, please keep them coming.
