New directory submission service is offering their list of 220ish sits for you to use. All of the links to the sites go directly to the submission page (if possible).

Also there is a great tool for quick copying. That is a must use for anytime you are doing long submission jobs.

The list does not focus on page ranks, just they are ordered in PR. Also the PR really doesnt show exact since some links point directly to the submission page which of course is a lower page rank than the site usually.

All that require payment should be taken out. I go through the list a few times a week and make changes as needed.

    Only a $1 ? I must have misread.

What does it take to get a free general directory on your list/inclusion?

If it is has PR, SEO friendly, and free (requires no backlink) I will add it. I want it to have PR because that is the easiest way of telling how old the directory is and how deeply indexed it has been. Its not an exact science just a quick reference :)

Also I hope your name isnt referring to me. I am only providing my list of directories and tools that I use to submit for people.

    Aaron,

My name is referring to me not anyone else. :D If you want to play it safe as I do I check for indexed pages by MSN YAHOO and GOOGLE. If they're indexed you are good, if not you're not good. I have turned down many pages with PR because they're not on msn or yahoo. Google is about 60% of traffic, if you don't want to lose the extra 40% I suggest a different method. How long will it be 60%? Microsoft is no small time competitor, neither are a few others.

I'd like to be on the list if you need PR I guess I'll wait.

Most of them look like the ones I left on my old list before I created the SEO friendly list.

There are many (most) on your list that aren't SEO friendly. Perhaps you should change your criteria. I could go through and mention all of them but I dont have a spare hour.

Qango is one that is glaringly obvious.

Quite a few aren't directories either. Aesop, Netnose and Wotbox are a few that aren't.

No offence, but the list isn't great.

So what exactly are all "must be" criterias for being a SEO friendly directory.
Everybody seems to have differnt oppinions about this.

    1. The URLs needs to be SE friendly.
    2. The subcategories need to be indexed by the SEs.

    As a bonus:

    1. Directory is free.
    2. No reciprocal is required.
    3. Directory has some PageRank.
    4. It takes less than 2 months to get listed.

    That's my opinion.

Marcus the problem lies in that many people claim directories to be SEO friendly, when they aren't.

Qango never was. Obviously directories can change over time, No one is so rigid that a directory is simply ruled out because in the past it had redirects. Many directories have changed to get with the times. Qango hasn't.

I'm not bashing Qango, they have a big directory, and how they choose to run it is their own choice. However, I will not sit here and be told it is seo friendly when it is not.

That is misinformation. and sadly a lot of it goes on, on this forum. Most of the time, i simply do not have the time or the inclination to interject and get into arguments about what is and what isn't friendly.

I've given my opinion, I will discuss it no further, as I said the list isn't great. Look at my old "Free Directory List", it contains several hundred directories/search engines, that are not SEO friendly. I could pad my list and pretend all the links are wonderful but I've chopped out all that garbage.

I wish others that presume to call their lists SEO Friendly would do the same. I said something in this thread, but for every thread I say something in theres another 5 that go by with misinformation. I'd look very closely at sites that claim to be "great directory lists" in my opinion, most of them aren't even good directory lists.
