Elephant and Horse Stand Off If Alexander have ventured across the Ganges into Massive Mauryan Empire led by Chandragupta Maurya, surely he would have met his defeat. All his undefeated glories would of been in vain as Waterloo was for Napoleon. Alexander did lose some battles against Uzbekistan Nomadic Cavalry Tribe. He almost got killed in Uzbekistan and India. So much for over hyped Greek historians. Porus is Kyshathriya, Hindu warrior, it's a dishonour to kill already wounded dying Alexander.
I'm demanding a U.N. resolution be adopted to protest this immediately. Down with Macedonian tyranny!
Wow that was a crazy scene, the worst part was when the elephant stepped on that guys skull, that is a hell of a way to die. Yeah, no doubt Alexander would have met his match sooner or later, but that guy had balls of steel, going head to head against an elephant on a horse with no back up...
never trust how history is written because its written usually by one side of the conflict, the things we read about alexander was written by fellow macedonian, greeks so of course there is lots of blah blah's that arent true
Porus was outnumbered by Alexander like 3 to 1. Alexander always had large cavalry compared to his infantry. Alexander asked Porus to surrender more than 7 times. Porus wouldn't even surrender. After the battle, Alexander was very impressed by his courage both became good friends. Porus small force was able to trash the large Macedonian force. When Porus told the Macedonians and Alexander, how many other bigger Indian kingdoms he has to fight to win whole of India, whole Macedonians army didn't want to pursue any further. Alexander then marched back to Persepolis. India wasn't like Persia, as some historians would say, up until India, Alexander fought mostly with women. Now, Iran is an Arab wh**e house. Thank god, for our brave Indian forefathers who fought many invaders, none of them could conquer whole of India. Only one to conquer whole of India, are the British. But if British came as brave as Alexander, they surely would have been pleasantly surprised .
Even if Alexander outnumbered Porus 3 to 1, those War Elephants leveled the playing field, I mean, one elephant probably killed like twenty troops simply by trampling over them. The horses and men were terrified, the Greek soldiers probably never encountered War Elephants before. I agree Alexander probably couldn't have beat Chandragupta. I'm more impressed by Chandragupta's Prime Minister Kautilya than Chandragupta himself. He wrote a book very similar to the Prince, called the Arthasatra. I just bookmarked it on my computer, will read it when I have a chance.
