I have been using AVG for a long time now. Works great for me.

Is there any other free one like AVG? :).

I'm currently using Panda Internet Security 2007 (there's a 2008 version too) and it includes firewall and anti-virus. Never had any problems with it so far. Good one.

I've tried AVG but its database up dates seem slow... Avast seem abit annoying with user experience.... Norton is a resource hog... ummmm.... McAfee was annoying like Avast but better... I'd recommend NOD32... found at Eset.com

Kaspersky is probably the best out there, whereas AVG is pretty good and free for many types of use. I'd recommend one of those depending on your requirements.

There's a fair chance if your PC was compromised it might also be full of trojans and adware/malware though, so you might want to scan it with something other than a virus checker too, such as Spybot S&D.

I've recently seen Zone Alarms antivirus and firewall combination suite. I was fixing someone's pc and they had this installed. It was quite impressive.... and wasn't as resource hungry like other anti-virus apps. Thats another one to consider too!

    Respectfully,
