My computer starts to creep when I have PS CS2 open along with other programs. Does anyone know of a Graphics program that is smaller for doing simple jobs like pasting screenshots, resizing images and making buttons. Small jobs that don't require filters, actions and layers. Thanks
Try photoshop elements. It is quite a bit lighter than full photoshop. Also, you may try upgrading your RAM if possible. It will make your computer run better all around.
I still use PhotoImpact 4 back from 2000. You may want to check out the GIMP - I am not sure if it is lightweight or not, but it's free. - P
I use photoshop 6 and it runs like Formula 1 on every configuration. Ok, it is a little bit retro but he doing the job with a joy.
You can try older versions of Photoshop, for smaller jobs, they are very enough. but just to create screenshots, making jpegs or any image conversion, thumbnailing, batchprocessint, creating small effects you can go for IrfanView, It is not only a viewer, it can do tasks on images too, http://www.irfanview.com Try it, Regards, Vrajesh
I have tried ifran but could not figure out the interface. I am used to ps so i probably did not give it much time. Carl
I use Irfanview (Freeware, just google it) for small jobs. Its very lightweight and has many plugins available. For web graphics its great. Resize then Sharpen then save. All can be automated and the images are very sharp ! Its good for a whole bunch of things. You can process a whole folder and even do some enhancements. For more serious stuff PS CS2 can't be beaten!
just Macromedia Fireworks Rocks... in WebDesigning i think photoshop is far behind Fireworks in eas of use and quick designig
I use imageready, as per above. If photoshop is slow, try removing or disabling some of the filters you don't use.You can have a look at this video: http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=6771036656577522339&q=speed+up+photoshop
good lucking finding the software you need but i find photoshop to be awesome! its great with everything you can do!
I have had real problems trying to switch to another graphics program because i have been using ps 10 years+ (can it really be that long?) Thanks to whoever suggested imageready. That has really done the trick. the best part is that if i need ps, it is only a click away and the image switches over to it.
u'r welcome adobe tools are really top notch. might want to give irfanview a try (for even smaller jobs)
