Graphics guys - Design ideas?

    I'm developing a new website and I'd like some advice from you creative design types (I'm more of a programmer, buy my design skills are steadily improving.)

    What colour should I have my page background? (the bit thats currently white)
    What about the background around it? (the stripey bit)

    I could have the stripey bit white, with the page light grey with black text, or dark grey with white text. Or even black.

    I fret over this stuff for ages and designers can suss this stuff straight away with the perfect colours.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Tell ya what, you show me an non BS levitation clip, and I'll help ya! lol JK, but yeah a non BS levitation clip would be nice. I'd recommend a dark skin style for a magic website. Something like this site has: http://www.ellusionist.com/index.php

    I think the header background looks fine, maybe make it darker, adjust the levels and use white type instead of that awful Bank Gothic glow. I'm sorry I don't know why I hate that font so much. We had a bad history I guess.
