I was not sure whether to work on it or just flat out sell it, so I'll put it up for grabs now and if my reserve price isn't met, I'll just work on it. As you know, the Grand Theft Auto franchise is one of the biggest in gaming history. All of its games have dominated the charts from one point to another, and they always generate millions and millions of dollars. Each time another GTA game is released it is bigger and better than the rest.

Well, a new GTA is coming out in October. This one, entitled Grand Theft Auto IV (four), is set to be bigger than all of the previous GTAs combined. It is being developed by over 120 small companies, and most importantly, it is expected to be the biggest of video game of 2007.

I would love to plave a bid for this domain but it's kind of high. What will happen if Rockstar games decides to take the domain? If the game is as big as you say it is )and it will be) they will probably take it from me.

Well, here is the thing. I have done several appraisals on this domain and many have argued both sides. However, from appraisals by highly respected, known members of this community, I have heard good news. First, Rockstar is known to support the fan base. Now, I am no expert on this stuff, rather new to the business, but whether or not they were the first to register those domains, they acquired them a long time ago.

However, my domain, GrandTheftAutoFour.com, was registered on February 12, 2007. If they wanted it, they had plenty of time to take it. Also, lets look at www.GrandTheftAutoThree.com, currently running on adverts, making money, and has never been stopped. GTA3 was the first major GTA game which started it all.

In response to your domain value when GTA5 comes out, lets not forget that GTA:San Andreas (last installment of the game) came out in October of 2004. That is a three year span between these two games and GTA:Vice City came out in 2002. As the games get bigger and are being made for more complicated consoles such as the PS3, companies will drag out their sales times and will have more work cut out for them.

Now, I can make no promise whether or not they will take the domain, it is not my place nor authority to say so. However, I can say this: if they really wanted it, why didn't they register in 2004 or 1999?

In response to a PM from LawrenceQ, that was the owner's decision to sell for the price that I got it. I bought the domain when all that was known about GTA4 was that one of its executive creators had its logo tattooed on his shoulder. As the trailer has now been released, previews have been made by major magazine companies and game reviewers, so hype and anticipation has mounted up!

Being that the game is call Grand Theft Auto IV, I don't see Rockstar taking the domain.

But:
It's still a great keyword that will get you to the top of SE's fast.

 

Exactly, with just a little tweaking and promoting of the site, the SE rank will fly up, especially if you have a few 4's on your site. Also, I would like to mention with totally honesty and no arrogance, I showed this website URL to my friends in (high) school and they literally were like wow. The GTA franchise is huge.
