I have just bought a site with 300+ pages ..

I want to redirect the whole pages to a subfolder of my site.

Can I do it gradually i.e. 301 redirect 20 pages a day instead of redirect all 300+ pages in one day? I don't want Google to be suspicious , finding that that the content of my site become 300+ pages more in mere one day.

The custom redirect will be done via .htaccess . I will define 301 redirect rules for each of the page.

    Thx

I don't think will affect your rankings or make google suspicious if you don't have any illegal content or content that is outside of the Google Guidelines.

But the addition of 300+ pages in one day ? plus hundreds of new inbound links from the redirected domain?

My site is a 3 month old site .....

BTW i am going to redirect the older site to a subfolder of my new site.

    Hi All,

Unfortunately I had deleted the old files .com/xyz which I relocated it to .com/a/xyz. Since I have lost the old files, I am not able to use 301 redirect from .com/xyz to .com/a/xyz and google or any search engines are not able to index my new links.

I have uploaded new sitemap on webmasters tool. Please give me a solution on how can I index my new links and demote my old links appearing in Search Engines.:)

    Thank you,

redirection will not affect your rank as you are not creating spam content, you are just pointing the existing content to a new url and that is legal and it does not matter how much pages you redirect in a single day, it can be 2 or 2000 or 20000 google wants unique content that is it.
