Does anyone know any do-follow .gov forums... such as small city forums... to get some juicy .gov authority links??? Im going to look into this via Google searches, etc. ... I'll keep you guys posted!!
Heres what Matt Cutts had to say about .edu and .gov backlinks... In a nutshell getting a backlink on a PR5 .gov is essentially no different in google's eyes to getting a backlink on a PR5 .com... Your chasing a SEO myth...
NeuroToxic is right the belief that .edu or .gov backlinks are better than the other links is a myth because all domain extensions are treated equally.
Just becuase it's a gov link means nothing. I think a lot of people get confused about that. Just focus on quality links rather it .com, .org., .biz, or whatever.
.gov and .edu links are nothing but hype. you WILL get authority backlinks ONLY if your site is listed as a reference on the main edu or gov site which is almost an impossible task. all the links people are getting (some are selling too) are on student blog or gov blog/forums. these blogs/forums are not edu/gov authority pages but common public pages therefore those links count just as same as .com links.
Basically you just want to concentrate on getting high PR backlinks, completely forget about the domain extensions, .edu, .gov, .com, .net, .org, it makes absolutely no difference which extension it is. Highly Recommended Directories: http://dmoz.org http://dir.yahoo.com http://botw.org If you can get into 1 or all of these 3 above directories then your laughing. Links To Avoid: Google recently has started to clamp down on brought / paided for links, after the last Google PR update 90% of bid link directories went down in PR, so be very cautious if and where you buy backlinks.
