.gov domain for sale on ebay. Winning bid was over $10,000

What do you guys think about that? Could it be legit?

 

I'm thinking scam, BUT if it is legit, than I have a sneaky feeling that it would be highly illegal as the domian owner would have know idea. Even more likely it's a rooted box if it's legit.

 

Somehow it cant be legit since .gov registrar can only approve domains for official federal government applicants (who would never resell them).

 

The price is in GBP, meaning that the seller is english and selling a US .gov domain. Hmmmm.

I wouldnt buy it!! Its sounds doggy and even if you buy this domain after a few days you will get an email from that department if not from a lawyer!

 

Even if it is legit, I can't see a .gov being worth that much money. Matt already said .gov and .edu links carry no extra weight. I'm sure he was smudging the truth a bit, but $10,000 for some .gov links? No way..

 

I agree SCW1975 about Matt saying this but I am nost sure he really meant it! I think that if you have a few .edu and .gov backlinks would add some more value!!

 

also note, that this sale is for hosting, not just a link.
