Got warning from google... is my site ok now?

Discussion in 'Guidelines / Compliance' started by tdnetworks, May 4, 2006.

I got a email from google today saying that my site isn't compliant with their policies so I made a few changes.

I changed the text above the ads to sponsored links and advertisements, before they were search results and paid search results. I also changed the format of the ad box in the middle... before it was a grey box and didn't say anything about google ads for some reason...

Is everything ok with the site now? Am I showing too many ads? Click here to see a sample page.

Why don't you email the Adsense support team and ask them?

You might want to fix your link.

you have a lot of ads...isn't there a limit to 3 units per page only, besides the link unit.

looks like you have 4 ad units and some are in frames - also, Adbrite might be considered competing ads - Google doesn't allow for similar types of text ads that resemble adsense to share the same page as their ads

I see no content. Is the Google search results considered "content"?

Don't know how to get in contact with them... I know if I send them a message through the site the most likely will not respond within 72-hours (the amount of time google gave me to make changes)

So no sites are allowed to use adbrite if they are with google? I swore I saw a few sites that use both.. can someone confirm this?

I removed one of the boxes, is it ok now?

dont use AdBrite and google on the same page. google states that you shouldnt use any advertisement that is similar in any way to adsense on the same page.

The T&C state no more than 3 boxes. Just to clear up something though, is adbrite contextual?

<added we cross posted, and I think you answered my question LOL>

Can not have adbrite and adsense on same page at same time.

Easiest way to answer google....just reply to the email they sent you.

Yes using the google websearch api is considered content. Google loves to see more of themselves ;-).

Adbrite is not contextual, so it does not violate the Adsense TOS. You can either select their "network ads" or just sell your own ad space via them. Your problem is probably what someone said -- you had four ad blocks when only three is allowed.

Post your URL again, the one you posted didn't work. And don't post a "sample", just post the actual URL.

AdBrite is having two types of programs:
    - one is displaying only advertisers that signed up only for your site
    - other is PPC program like google.

I think if you use the first option will not be any problem because you don't sell contextual tageted ads, you display only specific advertisers not PPC.

Um, that's not true. I use Adbrite on one of my sites right now, and they have "network" ads that goes by the keywords you input for your site (when you create the ads) and at the same time, they sell ad space on your site via links. When someone purchases ad space, it automatically knocks off one of the network ads and takes the top spot. As far as I know, Adbrite has no contextual advertising capability, so there is no violation of the Adsense TOS. And yes, their ads are PPC.

The simple answer is to check with Google. They are not going to ban you for ignorance with regard a few technical points. Explain to them what the breakdown is, including adbrite etc, and they will tell you exactly .

Well I had four blocks on there for a pretty long time and made $X,XXX for the last few months so I don't know why they just realized that. But I did remove a block which isn't a problem because one of them didn't convert that well anyways.

The url is tdnetworks.com, just do a search for anything and you will see the page with the google ads.

The adbrite issue is confusing me! I want to put it up but don't want to risk getting banned, I'll email google and ask them what they think about it.

Also, some good news I guess? I go a email from google after I emailed them and told them I made the changes and here is the response I got...

"Thanks for making the requested changes to your account."

So does that mean my site is good now?

TBH I certainly would not assume all is well, I would ask them to confirm that the current arrangement is within the T&C. First rule of business, 'assume nothing' ;)
