I just checked my blog admin option, "Akismet" (Wordpress comment spam filter) and found thousands of comment spam from various IPs as below. Anyone know what kind of spam is this, what're their benefits, and how to prevent this (in case of there is no spam filter)? Thanks. http://www.google.com/search?q=dfdikmks name: okttqpz Comment: okttqpz http://www.google.com/search?q=vvdnfidfd Name: ffeeeop Comment: ffeeeop and etc..
How trivial would it be for Google to disallow PR transfer from its own SERPS pages? The answer is, very. People link out to SERPs pages all the time, but not once have I seen one coming up in Google's SERPS, or that of any other search engine, or counting as a backlink, for obvious reasons. Imagine the chaos if they did! This is just some dumb spammer. You must have some kind of spam filter, and some way to disallow links for unmoderated comments, otherwise you're living in 1996. Adding the rel=nofollow tag to all unmoderated comments will prevent anyone from gaining anything from comment spam, but it will not stem the flow. The best option is to get yourself a text-based trivia captcha that you can modify yourself. Do NOT install an image-based captcha, because they are a pain in the neck for humans to use, and they can be beaten by bots. So, you need to go looking for a good mod for your comments form. And if you can't find one, you will need to look for some better blog software. Good luck in your search.
I use bad behaviour with akismet and it blocks this kind of stuff. If you look at the submitters IP it won't be one of google's.
