Thanks jimnoble for the guidance, I have submitted my site to that section however I think that my site is not in actual urdu script instead it's in roman urdu that could be fitted under Pakistan (But I realize I miss understood now)

Beside that thanks everybody else for your feedbacks, let's see how my site submission goes on, and did my top level domain submitted http://www.dmoz.org/Test/World/Urdu/ got approved and what else.

Btw, I don't know why but I beleive that my site might be appropriate for the following categories

    http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/India/Punjab/Arts_and_Entertainment/
    http://www.dmoz.org/Recreation/Humor/Regional/

    as I see a similar site [ http://sweetcrazyboy.com/ ] there

    and [ http://www.txt2nite.com/ ] in http://www.dmoz.org/Recreation/Humor/Jokes/Collections/T/

The only difference I have over these two sites is that my site content is mixed with roman urdu script & I have some content in roman urdu script on my site.

Anyways let's see how things are dealt, and I am really glad to see odp editors responding to my threads :)

    Thanks allz

As I said earlier those sections are for English only or majority English sites. If you find some with non-English content please let us know and the sites will be reviewed for suitability. Onwe of the things I have done a great deal of, along with most editors, is send sites not substabtially writen in English to the World part of the directory. Urdu fooled me as the where to send it! But, glad to say, Jim was able to help with that.

I will be gladly report sites that are non-english.
Beside that my interest in becoming dmoz editor is greatly increased as urdu is my native language and I can easily distinguish between english/urdu. I should help dmoz moving urdu sites to the urdu category.

Before I go ahead and apply for the editorship at dmoz, I would love to hear your suggestion about which category do I choose for applying as an editor.

Currently, I am planning to choose [ http://www.dmoz.org/Test/World/Urdu/ ] as mentioned by jimnoble, do you think I should apply for any other category!

Test/World/Urdu/ is still in its development/experimental phase and is probably best looked after by editors with some experience elsewhere.

Your English language skills seem to be quite good so why not go for an English language category of up to around 100 listings to begin with? There are hundreds of thousands to choose from :).

Once you've gained some editorial skills, you'll be able to offer to help in our Urdu category and hopefully speed its progress towards full status.

Glad Jim got that before I did, because he is a Meta and deals with editor applications, as well as a myriad other things, I aint got those privs and responsibilites.

I just recommend you follow that succinct excellent advice. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

I'm glad to see Mr.Jim's reply here, and I was really wishing to have it.Thank you Jim for the encouragement, however my past experience is quite bad with dmoz, but now I beleive it's going to be good :)

My recent application to http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/Pakistan/Arts_and_Entertainment/ was just rejected few days back.

I guess, I should re apply for the same, as I am from Pakistan and usually surf sites from Pakistan, I would help listing quality Pakistani sites to the directory.

Now, once again I have a question:-
1-Should I reapply for the same category?
2-Is there anything wrong in applying more than 1 time for the editorship?

Thanks both of you, specially Jimnoble for the guidance.

Applying to become an editor is meta territory, but I would apply for a small category to begin with. Once you become an editor and get some experience in doing things properly, you can ask for higher or wider permissions in other categories.

Most editors have requested and been denied further categories, because we weren't ready yet (as I have), so it's pretty common and not a personal thing. We usually get some advice from the denying meta about what we should do to improve our chances, though, and there are many editors willing to help us out.

Nothing wrong with applying several times, most editors have to. Just be sure to read the possible causes for rejection and correct yourself on the next application. It's the same thing you'll be expected to do as an editor.

Yes, you can go for the same category and yes, you can keep on applying (unless some meta tells you to stop).

I suggest that you first study the good advice here.

Thanks once again to jimnoble & crowbar.

It took me approximately an hour or so to read all the stuff very carefully, and than resubmit my editor application to http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/Pakistan/Arts_and_Entertainment/

But unfortunately, I didn't receive confirmation email (the email which I have to respond for my own email confirmation), instead I receive a page with the following instructions.

My previous editor application was rejected, however with the above statement I feel that my previous application have some affects, and I could reapply with the same email address or so.......

can you please guide me once again in this regard?

P.S: I tried recovering my password but it says no such user...(including this info as it might be helpful)

the email address i used for my previous email address and current email address is dmoz [at] najam-njm [dot]com

Keep trying, we need more editors. Just remember, everything on the application is important or it wouldn't be there. :)

Just a quick note to update this thread, that I got a response from dmoz editor within 12 hours, and the best thing which I received in this response was "reviewers feedback"(I am not going to disclose it ;) as I am not sure if I can do this or not).

Anyways, I have re-written my application, overcome my week points in my application, and submitted once again by following the suggestion of reviewer.:)

Let's see how it goes on, btw, I don't know why but I feel quite confident to be approved by now.
