I would add that it is quite easy to build a pc on your own nowadays, since there are really good tutorials on the net. You just need to follow the indications and have plenty of time when you decide to do it. If you have never done it before, you are likely to need at least 3 hours to do it properly. Now back to the config of mikey, it is a well-balanced pc, though it is a shame that you don't have a second hard drive. It would have been better to have a 200 GB hard drive and another 300 GB hard drive. The security is increased if the system crashes and you can separate your OS from the games ;-)
wow...congrats on the new computer the costs really doesn't matter as long the performance is great...waiting for the pics soon...
I see a few people getting excited over the 4Gb RAM, so tohught I'd share some info with you (seeing as we build PC's here for a living): 1) 3.5Gb RAM is the most that XP will recognise, but most modern motherboards will accept up to 4Gb (with a good lot taking 8Gb max). 2) The best way to buy RAM is in 'matched pairs' 3) Basic DDR2 RAM is very cheap at the moment, you might be surprised at how little an upgrade would actually cost you at the moment. 4) Taking an XP PC up from 1Gb to 4Gb (albeit 3.5) will really improve performance all over - and could cost as little as £40 A little tip, for those of you who don't know what RAM is in your PC, or what it will take - go to crucial.com and run their 'system scanner' software online - it will tell you what RAM you currently have, what the maximum you can take on your motherboard, and what type you wil need - as well as give you a budgetary figure to work with.
