I got an illegal application, when I ran the program, it call home. I got an email from the company, it said:

we have detected that someone (possibly you) is using a pirated/cracked copy of "GSA Auto SoftSubmit" for submitting your resources to other websites.

As you may know, things on the internet can be hidden or false information can be submitted.
If someone else than you is responsible for this situation, you might as well do something against this as people might want to give you a bad name.

Anyway we will investigate this threat in the next days (parsing server logs). Meanwhile it would be nice if you can say something to this case.

Further we reserve the right to issue a lawsuit against your company if it turns out that someone in your company is responsible for this issue and no license has ever been bought.
We in GSA think that people should pay for this software as anybody else does. Especially for a software where people make extra cash after using it.
    Code (markup):
What are the odds that I get sued.

    thanks

If their English skills are a reflection of their legal skills, then your pretty safe.

Why are you cheating the company by using an illegal copy in the first place?

If you knowingly used an illegal copy then I personally hope they do sue you.

Well since they are not offering you the option of purchasing a license. And instead asking for you to admit that you are using stolen software. I would STRONGLY suggest you do nothing and not respond. Admitting that you are using stolen/pirated software is the worst thing you can do. I would also remove the material from your PC...

To answer your question: Can they sue you. YES!! Just look at the cases in which the record industry has sucessfully sued individuals who had downloaded songs from torent sites. They get your IP address, send a subpoena to your ISP for your account details. And find a lawfirm to send you a demand letter.. Pretty cut and dry, and I wouldn't be as nieve as some of these individuals are to say that because their english stinks they cannot sucessfully sue you. The fact is, when you have a lawfirm sending you a demand letter for compensation or face going to court, your going to pay them.
