Got click-bombed. Account not disabled. Reported to Google.

    Dear all,

Previously, I've read about how people are getting malicious clicks by the hundreds or thousands. I thought that would never happen to me. I was wrong. It happened today. At first I thought it was an isolated attack (about 100 clicks in a short span), then when I log in a few hours later, additional 200+ clicks got registered.

I've written to Google, twice actually. I'm hoping to hear from them soon. As an intermediate step, I've removed the ads from the website of concern.

I'm utterly disappointed because my income this month is low, and now I had to remove my ads as a precautionary measure.

I hope this incident can proof that Google will not just disable my account from something beyond my control. Google Adsense income has been good to me in supplementing my regular work.

At the meantime, I'll continue reading articles/threads where people had experienced similar situations and what they did about it.

it's good that you emailed Google -
did you tell google in your email what you have done? (i.e.; removed the ads)?
and, did you offer your logs, or whatever else they want to them?

Agreed - good job being proactive about that. Have you heard anything back from them?

    Tearabite,
Yes, I've informed them (emailed to both adsense-abuse and adsense-support) that I've removed my ads after the clicks got up to 300+ within a few hours.

    mickmel,
No I haven't heard anything from them. Everytime I login to my Adsense account, I dread to see an "account has been banned" message. Hope for the best.

On the slightly brighter note, I noticed Google already discounted the clicks, which explains the low income. I just need firm confirmation from them that will continue to disregard such clicks before I can reinstate back my Adsense codes.

Thanks for willing to listen to my story :(

What did Google write in their email to you when you reported this incidence?

    Hemanth,
I have no idea where the attack comes from. I, being a small-time publisher, only use statscounter which has limited logs. Also, I never track any click from where it came from. What do you use for tracking?

I'm using some custom scripts as well as The contextual tracker. Google analytics is ther also. With those in combination with my cpanel raw access logs i can track spammers or clickbots..

But for your case the mail indicating a click attack notification to google is enough. They'll get ack to you soon
