Got an offer on my domain, but have a question

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by m3romeo, Dec 29, 2011.

A company emailed me stating that they are interested in purchasing a domain name that I own. Only the domain name is for sale, no website.

The company that is interested in buying my domain wants me to get my domain appraised by a third party company. I told him, look man, if you want the .com, make me an offer and we make a deal. So he made me an offer, BUT still wants me to get the domain appraised.

His reply "it's a standard practice to show independent valuation to buyers/resellers. Nobody will do business without it. Without the independent valuation from a trusted source we don't spend a penny. This is our financial policy. So our offer is just a rough estimate. If the appraisal comes higher we are ready to offer a bit more. If it comes lower we will discuss the price with you again."

I am not sure what to do at this point. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It is a spam. Don't pay for appraisals. That's their trick to let you appraise it and get money from your appraisal. They don't want to buy your domain.

Yeah they own the appraisal company, if they really wanted/needed the domain they would base their offer on what they are willing to pay.

Wow, that's a new one on me. I was contacted the other day about selling a domain with a bit of content on it for over $100. I was very surprised how they offered. Are .com domains that hard to find now? It's an character domain name.

I fell on their trap, they told me if interested on 5 of my domains...luckily (????) I'm just ordering 1 domain appraisal that cost $80,31...and you know what, they appraised my domain name with $38,000 price without any explanation. What a silly report they gave to me, furthermore the report is not in PDF or other general format; but they just put on this url : http://www.authorizedappraisal.com/appraisal.asp?Domain=www.JewelQuest.net

If you read that report, I believe you will curse them ...I have submitted a dispute on PAYPAL, and my curiosity lead me order premium domain appraisal from SEDO.
