A company emailed me stating that they are interested in purchasing a domain name that I own. Only the domain name is for sale, no website. The company that is interested in buying my domain wants me to get my domain appraised by a third party company. I told him, look man, if you want the .com, make me an offer and we make a deal. So he made me an offer, BUT still wants me to get the domain appraised. His reply "it's a standard practice to show independent valuation to buyers/resellers. Nobody will do business without it. Without the independent valuation from a trusted source we don't spend a penny. This is our financial policy. So our offer is just a rough estimate. If the appraisal comes higher we are ready to offer a bit more. If it comes lower we will discuss the price with you again." I am not sure what to do at this point. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
It is a spam. Don't pay for appraisals. That's their trick to let you appraise it and get money from your appraisal. They don't want to buy your domain.
Thank you for the reply guys....I figured I would ask and did get a little pit suspicious when in his both of email replies he links me to this: I read the following information about appraisals at http://www.thenamepros.com/Archive/815360279.htm I appreciate the feedback. Thank You.
Yeah they own the appraisal company, if they really wanted/needed the domain they would base their offer on what they are willing to pay.
Yes,the same happen to me.He said again :I will not accept appraisal from domainappraisal dot org.I trust AuthorizedAppraisal dot com.Heheehe...A Scam Investor. So I trace his IP: 188.121.43.194.Hostname: n1nlshrout02 dot shr dot prod dot ams1 dot secureserver dot net. Country :Netherlands. Wow, that's a new one on me. I was contacted the other day about selling a domain with a bit of content on it for over $100. I was very surprised how they offered. Are .com domains that hard to find now? It's an character domain name.
I got the same offer from jacob-brenner@domain-hosting-shop.com 100% scam. "To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal companies. Please check this blog with suggestions from other sellers and buyers:" fake static blog site http://www.forum-windows-club.com/Archive/846592108.htm
The same happen to me. I got an e-mail from jacob-brenner@domain-hosting-shop.com and he suggest me a blog with an appraisal site link. I also send some e-mails to him and he replay telling me that he need the appraisal for my domains. After the 3rd e-mail from jacob I stopped the conversation.
I fell for it too...need help on the dispute...i paid via paypal. How can I get my money back? It's like 200USD...
Sounds like scam there! But anyway , You can say them if they pay the fees for appraisal then you are ok.
I fell on their trap, they told me if interested on 5 of my domains...luckily (????) I'm just ordering 1 domain appraisal that cost $80,31...and you know what, they appraised my domain name with $38,000 price without any explanation. What a silly report they gave to me, furthermore the report is not in PDF or other general format; but they just put on this url : http://www.authorizedappraisal.com/appraisal.asp?Domain=www.JewelQuest.net If you read that report, I believe you will curse them ...I have submitted a dispute on PAYPAL, and my curiosity lead me order premium domain appraisal from SEDO.
