Got an offer for one of my domain through email – is it scam or should I proceed?

I hope this is the right place for this thread.....

Today someone email me to express his interest to buy one of my domains. I email back and asked him to make an offer.

I got a reasonable good offer within 15/20 minuets through email. I am wondering is it some kind of scam? Should I proceed? If yes how should I deal about this?

Any suggestions/comments form DP member will be highly appreciated.

as long as he pays before you push you shouldn't be worried

 

Use escrow if the amount involved is huge.
Whether it is a scam or not, we can't comment. The language of the mail might give ya an idea

 

Ya as long as he sends the money first, then why are you worried

 

They contacted you through whois contact details, how else are they meant to contact you

 

if they ask for a appraisal with a company of their choice, there is be a 90% chance that it is a scam

When you say huge what is the amount range you are referring to?
Sorry I am new in this area. I never involved in large transaction.

 

they take 3.25 % for transaction under 5000, it depends on if you think it worth the money (you can always ask the buyer to split the fee)

 

Huge amount is not same for everyone. What you consider huge may not be huge for me. So if you cannot afford to lose type of money involved or dont want to take any risk go with escrow. I personally wouldnt use it unless its about $3000+ but if you cant afford to lose the amount involved then go with escrow

 

Typically more then $1000 I would use escrow unless I really trust the person

 

Make them pay first them give them the domain. I think it's a safe move.
