Woohoo, I've been looking for a job for awhile, I applied for a salesperson job in the "Brown Goods" section (TV's, Home Theater, Stereos etc).

Get a call this morning saying they've looked over my CV and would like me to come in Monday at 2pm

Any advice? I really want this job/need it!! Got like no money ATM from my part time job, barley enough to pay bills :(

    Wish me luck!

Good luck. I'm sure it'll go okay.

My advice: You only get one chance to create a first impression. Go dressed smartly, walk purposefully and look the interviewer squarely in the face when you speak to him/her.

Be sure to let us know how it goes.

Research about their company and practice what you are going to say and anticipate what questions they might be asking you so you will immediately have an answer. Good luck! :)

Well, in moi humble opinion, I'd say:

Look smart but not too formal - a tie is a must and a suit is optional - wear good polished shoes - look refined
    Be confident but not cocky
Do your research, know the company well
The HR manager/recruiter will be looking for people who are presentable, pleasant and have great inter-personal skills.
Be prepared for the inevitable questions.
Keep your resume short (1-2 pages max)
You'd better mention your keen interest in electronics (since you'll be selling them)

And be sure to tell us how it goes

Er...you're going for a sales position. Casual is out of the question, they won't even consider you if you do that. Formal suit & tie, normal business attire.

Most importantly, research the company you are interviewing at and make sure that you illustrate that you know what the mission is of the company, who they serve and why, and connect all that to why you want to work there. Also do your research so you can respond to interview questions with things like "The brown goods industry is 3.8 billion pounds per year and is steadily growing. I am looking to work in an industry that would provide stability and my passion for electronics made me think that this is a perfect industry for me to dive into." Meditate on the prospective of the interviewer - what are they looking for and how could you fit that? Who else works there, do they hire trendy people, intellectual types - find a way to fit in with whatever their corporate culture is. Practice responses to questions that are always asked at interview (ie. "So, tell me about yourself.") in front of the mirror - sounds lame, but it will help you look confident in your interview. If you are bashful in front of yourself, you can bet you will look uncomfortable in front of a stranger. Good luck!!

Body Language - It means EVERYTHING in an interview and MOST HR people are trained to read you.

Record yourself on a video if you have a camera and ask someone to ask you questions,.....You will be surprised how you see yourself :)

    Hope this helps
