It is either fake or not. No one can tell, not even Paypal themselves. BTW, why are they telling us that they are gonna f$%@ us again, Just go ahead and do it as they did in Feb. DO you know the amount of $$ lost in Feb becos of their reversals. Also, the mounting tension and uncertainity. Maybe it's time to take up the cudgels and beat up RBI first for bringing up such norms without informing the Indians in the news and media about paypal and their drive to take things seriously. Next beat up every single Alpha male in the PP - business community who is making all these smoky decisions against Asians (china incl) and Indians in particular. THis is the drive of the US to make Indians suffer the same way that Americans suffer becos of outsourcing. Maybe, RBI wants to see the death rate go high becos of all these issues as some people live on these earnings. Isn't there any saviour to all these problems from RBI and Paypal - A robinhood, Batman, Superman, Shaktimaan or even Kungfu Panda. lol
Gosh just talking so much, feeling sleepy and have to also work at the same time, just realised that I hit my century on DP forums. Congratulating myself but with a sad face (paypal has taken away our smiles)
Hello, First of all, the message what we are referring to(whether received or waiting to receive) is real. I wish that it were fake/phishing but no it isn't paypal do at times use paypal@paypal.com instead of usual one. When last time, I received one email about participating in survey from paypal@paypal.com, it was also tagged SPAM by gmail. I forwarded that email to paypal and they confirmed that it was original intended message and not a phishing attack. This time also, I did receive message in SPAM. Now it's interesting to understand how SPAM is decided. There are certain criteria but I think this one is responsible. There are two words Domain Key and SPF which decide spam. Domain key means key authenticating the domain responsible for sending email. SPF is related with IP address of server and websites can declare IP/IPs from where they will send emails. If it is sent from other IP, SPF won't match and it can be tagged spam. I think since paypal has to send email to not every one but specific class of account holders (based on country), they might have used some local or different server(IP) to send that notification email and google tagged it spam. Why not every one received it? It is obvious that no. of emails to be sent is considerable and it may be delivered/sent late. Also, no. of profile holders who received it are substantial and it itself proves that it can't be phishing attack. Also, just like all of you, I am afraid of the possible impacts/outcome of such drastic changes. But we have to see. If it is implemented in same format in which it is proposed in that email, it can seriously affect Online business of Indians. What is proposed by new scheme: 1. You effect sale of goods/service transaction and receive payment by paypal. 2. Payments received on occasion of sale/service will compulsorily be withdrawn in to your local bank only(not to other bank) and that is too within 30 days. 3. Also, you have to mention proper reason for that receipt. (why you received it- can be used by Income Tax Department) 4. Paypal has not mentioned about fees but in absence of information, we can assume that withdrawal fee will be imposed 5. PayPal has further clarified that if one wants to pay to site accepting paypal, one can do so by using his/her credit card issued by any Indian Bank In this way, it is making some unnecessary long procedures (like if I have to give you 500 and receive from you 250, I can pay you net 250 but now paypal wants to effect both transactions) Ofcourse it will be time consuming in nature. Plus we are exposed to fees at various stages. Paypal is not that efficient to transfer funds in local banking account. Also, those who held US Government and bla bla bla responsible for such incidences, that's not true. It is ofcourse, initiated by Indian Banking Regulatory Body (RBI) only and even that email states this fact in the beginning. As far as RBI regulations are concerned, they are 100% right in doing so. Just think of misappropriation current system can lead to!!! Hawala transfer and terrorist investment in stock market etc is increasing. Prevention of money laundering act can't be effective to prevent these activities. And even a layman can easily cheat Income tax department.(received 100000 during year, paid/transferred/used 50000, so he will tell government that I have earned only 50000) Conclusion of this long discussion is that we shouldn't be blaming our regulatory body. We should prepare our selves ready for tough situations of future. Hope every one will agree with this. Have A Nice Time.
If this is real issue, Paypal might be targetting personal accounts only, and not business or premier accounts.
getting a credit card is not a good idea so in short for now paypal is not a system we can stick too as its under heavy scanner of RBI .. maybe MB, Alertpay but 1 day they too will come under the scanner
If this is a real problem. I request all freelancers from India get united asap. 1. Lets discuss where to meet, when to meet. 2. Atleast 500 freelancers from all over India should meet RBI, with business proofs 3. Ask them why they are stopping our rights to spend money in Paypal, which RBI has no rights to do. Even Paypal should stop RBI dictating terms to it, RBI has no claim or rights to stop spending our money from Paypal. Its not an Indian company.
Well I have 3 PayPal accounts, two are under my name which is personal and premier account and one under the name of my company which is business account. However I got mail only for my premier account and not for personal and business account. What does this means?? I think its phishing mail from some one....what you suggest guys?
well why is PayPal not sending me this email, I have a premier account. Can anyone confirm if they got the payment on their Google Apps account ?
i think Some1 is trying to fool the yahoo/hotmail users with providing wrong info and gmail ppl are safe enuff as gmail detected those mails a phishing mail i can say this as , i havnt recd a mail like this , nor paypal as updated abt this on their blog
Thanks for the reminders too. @raja: My best recommendation would be to email PayPal directly through their original email address which they sent you during your registration process. You can quote the phishing email that you received so they can alert all other victims receiving this alarming message. Also, they can suit this person who's been sending the wrong emails to those few chosen people in different countries.
