Hey I got a dofollow backlink from a PR 8 very well known news website.
I do not want to brag.. I was shocked when I saw them coming from several international domains with that high PR. But instead of bragging, I rather have a question...

The site and article linking to one of my articles is unranked. But as said the domains have PR 8. Will there be a high PR heredity flow to my site? Will it give me a hight PR?

I am not talking about ranking... this link did instantly catapult my article to the first place in google which means I have a massive traffic incoming now. This is already great...

My questions counts only for the PR. I am nosy if there will swap a PR 5 or 6 to me? In other words.. does the main domain count for PR heredity or the subfolder?

While the PR of the domain is certainly important, another significant factor in how much link juice flows to you is the PR of the actual page where they've listed you ... so if the PR8 domain has you listed on their home page, you get major juice. If they've got you listed on a PR1 article page, you get a little juice.

Regardless, though, congratulations. Enjoy the traffic!

If the article moves off the first page you will not get very much PageRank flow from it. That's why blogroll links pass so much PageRank juice: they result in a lot of indexed links AND they keep the juice flowing from the high PageRank homepage.

Yes... I agree with you, just would like to add that sometimes this sitewide link could harm your website especially if it's not at least in content (30-50 words among the sitewide link is recommended if you can't get an article)... Because after the recent few updates, Google doesn't like such backlinks, because it looks natural to get several thousand backlinks from a single blog (let's assume that this blog has 1,000+ articles and a lot of other pages because of the keywords that the webmaster uses...) ;)

Yes, I should have added a second point: blogrolls are ONLY good for sending PageRank juice. I do NOT use them to rank keywords. Instead, I use them to build PageRank to my private network of sites, then use those sites to link to my main sites. Should have clarified that.

    Hello friends,

Sorry for the late reply. Have been busy last weeks with a refurbishment of my home and so.

I think it makes sense what you all said. The article is already off from the main page and the main traffic from the news magazine decreased then. However, my article is still ranked on first place to a particular pretty important keyword for my article in google, which means the traffic from google is still massive.
Due to the backlink, this probably will stay steady for a long time, I believe. Which also means that the news article was already a big help for my small blog.

Back talking about the backlink, I believe you all are right. The news article is off the mainpage and it makes sense that there wont be that much pr then. But I do hope that this signal still gives me authorithy which looks like it is the case due to the good google position.

I maybe now can hope that some other blogs and websites did link to the news article of the magazine, so that the article over there will get some pr so that I get one piece of it too.

On the other side, I do think that it doesn´t matter much if I get pr or not when I look at the traffic.
Since the next google pr update should be soon (if not abandoned from google), I can inform you all what happened with my article just to share this kind of know how. This info could concern other people who will have similar luck.

Thank you all for the ideas and thoughful evaluation. :)

The point is if you use one blogroll or two then it is not going to harm you, instead you would get full benefit.

It is true that your same anchor text would appear on all the pages within the website, but IP address is also counted, those 1000 links would be from one IP address.... so Google may understand that you are linking to your site, your sister site etc.. one person may have website more than one, around 10 as well... but if it is in 100s, 1000s then it is going to create bad signal.
