Ok so I sold this Sprint PPC-6700 phone for my uncle on my eBay account for like $370. The guy got the phone and everything and everything was good. But then he said the phone's ESN isn't freed and Sprint told him it's because it was reported lost. My uncle told me it was unlocked so I just listed it that way. Now the guy wants a refund, and I'd be happy to give him a refund. I told him to mail back the phone and I'd give him a full refund. But he says that I have to give him the money first and then he'd send back phone. And I'm also getting annoyed with this guy, I'm trying to work with him to get him his refund, but he insists on doing everything his way and also talks very arrogantly which is annoying me. So then he says to pay him half now and half when I get the phone. So I tell him I'll think about it, but I won't send full payment until I have the phone back in my hand. Now he goes ahead and opens a dispute on PayPal. So what do you think? Am I the one wrong in this or is he? Should I be obliged to send him a full refund and then get my item back? I don't think that's how refunds work though, he has to send my item back and then I give him the money, from what I've seen that's how it works on eBay. So what do you think PayPal will do? I hope they decide it in my favor because if I send him the money he can just keep the item and I'd be out $370.
that's crap. he needs to send you the phone back first no question. I don't see how they could decide in his favor. I can see why he'd be upset BUT he doesn't need to be a tool about it since you are willing to work with him and already said you'd give him a FULL refund.
Yeah I've already told him that like 100 times. Send the phone back and I will give you a full refund, but he doesn't seem to understand that and is telling me that I don't know how refunds work. So I'll just leave it up to PayPal.
Tat's ridiculous and unreasonable. We all know that if a customer doesn't accept any merchandise, he/she will need to return it 1st and then only get the refund. This norm is not only applicable to ebay but all of the e-merchants too. So, i definitely don't think paypal will decide on his favor. Shawon Since that guy already filed the dispute, here are some steps you can do. 1) In the paypal section - "resolution center" 2) fill up all those information - must provide your tracking number, proof of delivery to paypal (this is to show the that the product is with the buyer") 3) Beside, there will be a box for your to type your comment - Write down this I am willing to work out with this customer. I already told the buyer I will do a full refund for him once the phone is received by me but he wants me to refund for him first. How could I do a refund for him without getting the phone back? This is totally unfair to me. Guess this will work.. Good Luck mate!
sounds like he's on the crack. online merchants require defective items to be returned 1st and then refunds are issued. heck, thy won't even ship you a new unit until they get the old one back from you first unless you just flat out buy a new one. good luck.
