It's not a hugely competitive keyword (regionally focused), but I guaranteed the client that it would rank on the first page of either Google, Yahoo or MSN within 6 months. He is THRILLED, and is practically throwing money at me. I love that Yahoo sees a new site that is relevant, and indexes it quickly. Thank you Yahoo!
Great. Now tell us exactly what you did and the name of the site so we can try too. And just keep that 6 months time frame for your client, maybe the next keyword will be tougher.
It's in my sig... Here's what I did (pretty standard stuff): 1) Appropriate keyword in the title 2) Keyword in both the description and keyword META tags 3) Keyword in content 4) Links on some relevant websites that I own (none with Pagerank, but all are indexed well). About 5 total links 5) Put the keywords as the domain name He's already had his first lead from the website. I definitely should have charged him more! Hopefully, with some more serious SEO stuff, I can get it #1 in all the SEs and keep it there.
Hmm, that is what I am doing. Must be more to it. Your magical touch probably that we normal deadly human beings never will understand.
Hey, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good... I think the backlinks were the most important part. They did two things: 1) told the SEs about the new site; and 2) allowed me to control the anchor text. Give me your URL and the keyword you're trying to optimize on and maybe I can give you some pointers.
Some of my keywords is on the top of Yahoo today, I just re optimize some of my pages. I focus on density of my page.
Yep, those are all things that we're going to be doing, but like I said, the site is only a week old. We haven't even touched keyword analysis yet. Thanks for the tips! BTW, what is split testing? I'm new at this stuff.
