If I recall correctly, Alexa rank averages over the last 90 days and only updates once a week.

Hey rockerdish...you know what? Everybody is in the same boat as you are now.
Alexa haven't updated in over 2 weeks now. I have monitored my rank as well and have seen no change.

Why worry though? You get the traffic don't you? There aren't many people that actually analyze a website on alexa. But yeah I know, it still feels good to know your rank.

Yeah it's been over 2 weeks now. One of my SEO buddies have also reported this to me so you are not alone. I don't know what's up with Alexa, but I'm sure it will get fixed sometime soon.

    Hey rockerdish,

I was looking to increase my sales on my website and look what I did :

I tryed Google adSense for advertising my website, but I was not very happy with the results I got.
I also tried email advertising on different newworks and it seemed to me that taketheinternetback.com ads results were a little bit better in terms of generated visits and conversion.
I searched alexa.com for stats, and it seems that most of the traffic on this website is US based, so it would make sense to use it in my case.

Do you happen to know a more appropriate way of advertising for websites in the travel domain websites (like mine)?

infinity...you are targeting customers via their geographic location right?

The best way to do this is use Google Adwords and target your customers by location. That way you get laser targeted traffic.

The other way in which you can do it is this...pick up the phone, and contact webmasters that are in your horizontal market (not the same market, but the horizontal market. For instance....boats and fishing are a horizontal market, but they compliment each other). Call the guys and ask them if you can advertise THEM on your site, and in return you would appreciate it if they can maybe advertise you as well. If you CALL them...they would listen. Trust me on this one.

You will see the change in the alexa rank in the "last 7 days column" in the bottom and then It all averages out :)

Yeah but still....it's pretty weird that the alexa bar isn't updating.
I know if you visit alexa self you can see it there, but my traffic stats on the bar stays the same even if i'm pumping an extra 1000 visitors to my site within a day or 2. Something is wrong.

For me it has been about a week. I even had a one day rank of 78k where as my overall rank is 366k and didn't get updated. The better your rank the more often you update. Or if you get a big surge of traffic then you will get updated quicker. 1-2K extra in a few days isn't that much. 1-2k extra per day for 4-7 day will get you updated right away depending on your current rank.

Keep in mind that Alexa gathers their statistics from users who have their toolbar installed, so the data may be skewed for your site; maybe it only accounts for 5% of your users, or maybe it accounts for 85%.

In the end, stop worrying about Alexa rank. It means nothing. Focus on increasing your traffic and increasing the conversions or user experience.

Alexa is insane... it seems to have no bearing to my actual traffic count. Though I read somewhere it's harder to game it now.

Mine fell off a cliff the last couple of days, despite reasonably high traffic.

    Hi everyone,

Infiniti I also used TakeTheInternetBack.com and I was pleased with the results that I got.

I had a good response from taketheinternetback.com, but the thing that disappointed me a little was that their support person was not too communicative in the beginning. Probably they have a lot of ads requests to handle, as their system is also attractive for the ad readers. After all their ads had good results but... you know, I am always searching for different networks that might have even better results.
