Am I missing something here? Are there many blogs to comment on? Especially when Google follows the rel-no follow rule from now? Even if you comment on many blogs, you have to check whether is there rel-follow, otherwise, it is just an empty PR 0 link.

"Underwater sea plants" does not appear on your page as a grouped phrase. Add some text to your page with this phrase.

For that phrase, you are currently at position 838 in Google. For a phrase that competes with just 237,000 other pages, I'd say something is seriously wrong.

Yahoo Site Explorer shows 87 links pointing to your site, most of which appear to be Digital Point signature links.

Do some keyword research, and make sure those keywords and keyphrases appear on your webpage. Then start submitting to some free directories (see my signature) and forget reciprocal links.

If you submit to free directories, try to submit to the newest ones first. Chasing PR like everyone else does will leave your submissions waiting to be reviewed for months. Newer directories will review and approve much faster. And for a phrase with 237,000 results, you should be ranking on the first page in a week or slightly longer.

    Happy link building :)

    Hi ,
You can use yahoo site explorer , http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com

Another good tool that i always use is at http://www.chansense.com/backlink

But chansense uses yahoo site explorer basically....its more of the interface that gives you the total links that you have in yahoo and google...

    try it!

Build more links, and one of the poster is right, you don't even have a complete phrase saying underwater sea plants or whatever. Also, compared to other sites in your niche, the backlinks and quality of your site's content is quite not upto the standard.

If you want some specific advice, then post a URL. Otherwise use the forum search option and find lots of general basic info. :)

    @ Tobidotman

Relevancy does not matter at this time. I can point out countless Websites that rank for extrmely popular keywords that have plenty of unrelated backlinks.

You may have got backlinks of high PR but you will have to wait for google to track those. Google has recently updated its backlink database, so you will have to wait for more 3 months....

Search or relevancy of backlinks? I'll assume relevancy of backlinks.

Take a look at the number 7 ranked site for "search engine optimization" in Google. I won't post their URL here, but you should be able to figure it out with this explanation.

Search Engine Optimization = nearly 34 million competing pages
Search Engine Optimization = 15,304 daily searches according to Wordtracker

Now, let's look at some of the backlinks to this site. If you don't know the URL yet, you will in a moment. Look at the footer links of these pages:

    http://www.aerosml.com = aircraft niche
    http://www.double-oak.com = city website
    http://www.fofarms.com = dairy farm niche
    http://www.creativewaste.com = sewage niche
    http://www.topsecrethair.com = hair extension niche
    http://www.fertilityneeds.com = egg donor/surrogate mother niche

I could go on with this, but it is not needed. The only thing these backlinks have in common is PR. And to rank number 7 out of nearly 34 million results is a good indicator that whatever this SEO company is doing is working rather well.

Sites that get unrelated niche backlinks is actually quite common among top ranking sites in very competitive niches. These are far from natural links, but yet still provide the boost needed to get to the top.

Unfortunately you do not know what the search engines score or do not score nor can you ascertain the value of each link, you can see PR but this does not mean a PR4 link is scored the same as a PR6 link.

How can you tell a natural link from an artificial link????

    You can't

Natural means the links were not built artificially.... artificial link building is the method in which the link is obtained... such as dumping a link in 500 free directories in a week. That is not how the web was built nor is it how quality links are obtained. In fact 500 free directory links probably have a value of 0 where just one link from joeant may have a value of 50.

Links can be natural, and have a great deal of value, or artificially built and have no value, or vice versa.....

In other words an irrelevant link from problogger.com could have 10 times the value of a relevant link from notproblogger.com

You are working with speculation at best, and very little fact, due to the fact that Google nor any other search engine, will reveal 50% of how they operate or score things ;)

It should be simple to get the top spot for that phrase. Just keep at it.

I have doubt the quality of links you have made for your website...if those are of good quality..your website should atleast be cached regularly by Google spider..
Just check it in Google cache:underwaterseaplants.awardspace.com/ .... last time when Google took a snapshot of your website was 5 April..... then how can you expect top rankings in Google by these figures...:)
