I have made 126 backlinks for my website including PR3,4,5 and 1 PR7 backlink to my site on underwater sea plants but it is still not ranking on google or yahoo for my keyword " underwater sea plants" though the keyword is not competitive and the website has genuine content and validated by W3C.:(
why? It has been two- three weeks since that time ( for making those backlinks)

Be patient my friend and keep working on building links. Search engines may not react as quickly as you would hope. They also increase the value that the links pass to your site over time. To rank for something immediately you might have to get thousands of links. Even then, it still might takes weeks or over a month for the search engines to adjust your rankings. It really varies. Also, try to get links from other sites on the same or similar topic. It will help because search engines will see that those sites are on a certain topic, and then possibly assign some value to your site for that topic, especially if it coincides with your site's content. Another important tip, try to get the sites linking to you to use variations of the keywords you want to rank for in the anchor text. It looks like you're doing that in the signature links in this forum, so keep working on that with your other links. Good luck, and be persistent. :)

Unfortunately you are getting a lot of bad SEO information.

You do not need 1,000 links to get to the top of google for your keyword term.

Do you have a real website because looking in your links you seem only to have a subdomain on a website?

SEO also requires on page work and a site that has more than a few pages with little content....

There are over 100 points to the Google organic rankings algorithm and contrary to what many post, links are but one part of being able to get to the top of Google.

Are you not listening to what people are saying. There is no rule for how long it takes. It can be as quick as a few days or as long as a year...there's no set timetable. Keep building links and in the mean time, work on your site. No offense, but even if I was looking for under sea plant information, your site isn't the most attractive and I probably wouldn't even bother to click on one of your adsense links. Make it user friendly and give your site a unique look. If your site doesn't look professional, people won't bother with it and you'll get NO CLICKS!!!! Give your visitors information...but not too much information. That way they will see your ads and click on them to get the additional information they are wanting.

Well 126 backlinks really isn't much but I'm sure in time you'll rank front page on google.

I have over 17,000 backlinks now to my site. You get them one at a time and 126 may or may not be anywhere near enough to get you on page one of Google. You just keep working at it everyday, varying the keywords you are backlinked for, adding content, and so on. It never ends.

Do you have 126 directory backlinks? Are they anchored? Are they on related sites? Are the follow links?

I like this post :) I've even saved it for my future reference. This is a post written here, at DP by one guy. My fault, I don't remember where exactly it was, but, anyway I'll give it to you here. It's really inspiring, and makes me feel sure I'm doing everything correct.
