Its not being a women that is the problem. Its being a white or black, Republican women that is the problem.

Nate, i hope your right. That is if the gop wants to return to the true roots of what the republican party originally stood for.

I assume the point was that if you are anything but an older white male you are automatically at a disadvantage.

I think no one jumped on it because everyone sort of assumed that was a given?

I earlier noted this in response to Firegirl's post, but the response was deleted by a mod due to some ongoing off-topic issues between myself and another member.

Yep, agreed - what I read in Qwest's comment was that a woman's gender was likely an "obstacle" in the same way Obama's race was an obstacle in some people's bigotry, to be overcome. I did not get from Qwest that a woman is intrinsically not qualified - though I'd have to let him (or her) speak for him/herself. I'd personally love to see a female President, so long as she's right for the job, as any other candidate.

If you'll take a look at some posts above, the point is likely that being a woman hasn't exactly been the fast track to the Oval Office, any more than being a member of a minority race, formerly. The "obstacle" would be in the minds of those who are sexist, just as the obstacle to Obama's candidacy, for some (and only some), was due to their racial bigotry.

This election has shown that a candidate needs tobe able to raise money. Obama is planning to spend $1 billion in his 2012 re-election bid.

I don't thin Ryan would have problems raising money. I know I would gladly contribute to that effort in more ways than monetarily alone.

When we decide to amend the constitution to allow for someone to run who wasn't born in the US.

Wish we could though :D I'd so vote for him.

I also like Paul Ryan, it would be better if he was a governor instead of a congressman.

We certainly need a better governor in WI, given the taxing rape that has been going on here in our state, while our roads and other infrastructure turn to shit.

But in the end, Ryan is doing more good in Congress then he would leading just one state. We need the type of leadership and fiscal responsibility that Ryan has ushered in to take place nationwide, not just in Wisconsin.
