Just deposit it in your bank and they will credit it to your account.
I got no problem clearing my google cheques through SBI.

I dont think they will take any commission as the amount is already in INR. You need to deposit the check and the amount will be credited to your account in some days.

Most banks will deposit the money into your account and will not charge you either. Just give it to the bank with which you have an account.

I guess your native place has no Citibank branch.

If that is the case, the check will be treated as an outstation check.

It may take 2-3 weeks to clear + you will be charged an outstation check clearing fee.

well i guess your problem is that you dont have a bank account at your place.. i mean the city you stay now...

So, what you can do is.. open a savings account with CitiBank or UTI.. nad deposit you cheque there.. i said those banks cause they have Zero Balance Savings Accounts...

and there are no commissions to be paid.. ;)

RBI has made it mandatory for all private banks to offer zero-balance or low minimum balance savings accounts.

Most private banks offer zero balance savings account, but they never advertise about it.

e.g. ICICI Bank has a zero balance savings account too.

No Problem You can deposit in any bank. But it will take some time depend upon the bank. If it is sbi or some other local banks means it will take 20 days. If it is uti or citibank means within 2 days you can get credited. No bank will take the charges from your check why means it is already in rupees

    Which city?

See a small city having no branch of citibank will take 15 days to clear up and they will chanrge around Rs.150 to Rs.250 depending on your bank. As you have said you have an account in co-op bank they take i think Rs.150 for outstaion cheque. Also make sure of some tips.

    1. while depositing chk please make sure you have stamped coustumer deposit slip with you till the cheque is cleared.
    2. Confirm with bank how much time app will it take to get cleared.
    3. HAVE FUN WITH 1ST cheque :p

Most banks will accept checks issued by Citibank anyway.
