The domain alone I think is worth twice the amount it sold for. How can it be a scam site - it tells you exactly what you get and how to get it - it's then up to individual to decide whether they are interested or not. If it's not right for you - fair enough - but that doesnt make it a scam.
I got the googlest list AFTER watching the G4 show--it was still called the screensavers--I think--when they showed this. This is what got me exploring the web and starting my adsense journey. The message boards kind of suck(still stop in every once in a while) but I must say that looking at my list many of the words are still quite high payers. edit: OH---A much better site to get a FREE keyword list with so many posts is adsenseguide.info still a lot of newbies there trying to get a bunch of free keywords to make a quick buck the the forum admin seems to be quite helpful--I never got the list from them but I never tried either like stumbling on my own now a days.
$8500 on ebay? Friggin huge. Most sites sell for much less. No one pays $18 for keyword lists anymore. Maybe back in 2003, but not anymore when lists are iether free or 99 cents. Who ever forked out that money will regret it. Since the buer had a lot of feedback the seller got his $8,500 and is laughing to the bank (not a deadbeat.) The reserve tactic on ebay is used to generate a higher percived value for an otherwise less valueable website. I doubt it was worth more than $3,000 tops. The seller would have taken 4,000 easily..not much he is trying to 'reserve'. Scammers dont need to reseve. Can't outsmart a scammer unless your are the scammer. Mark gets scrwed.
If you were the person selling it recently.... I asked you several times why you are redirecting to an IP address and you ignored the question. My guess is you have been threatened with legal action over your domain so your quick fix was to redirect to an IP address. I'm not sure that's the case, but all i can do is guess since you are unwilling to be truthful about what is going on there.
That does make sense to me, it looks really unprofessional. Not sure that the average web searcher takes notice, but if you know Google and you don't build good pages on one domain, one must ask how legit you can possibly be.
Please be clear this is NOT my site. I just dont see why you guys are being so hard on it - its not anywhere near perfect, but I think it has HUGE development potential.
I don't really think anyone is being hard on it, it has spam written all over it. And there is so much good, free advice out there. I don't think we are being anything more than just critical.
I looked further into this site and this was one of the first(if not the first) websites to offer the so called "keyword list." It so happened that the guys on "the screensavers" ran across the site and gave them a plug. They did quite well for quite some time --the whole idea was to sell the list that they worked hard to create. I looked at my old copy of the list and it has 13 pages(200 words per page) for a total of 2600 high paying phrases. This is obviously one of the best lists I've seen and I've seen many since then. While I see everyone being hard on googlest, I must say, I praise them for being one of the first to capatilize on the "paid keyword list" craze. shoot even better getting plug on tv--(too bad nobody watches G4 anymore.)
exactly, we should be praising entrepreneurs like this - they aren't hurting or scamming anyone, just making an honest buck imo.
It is a scam cause noone pays 18 for keyword lists anymore NO ONE!! Obviously it is BS. he probbaly hasn't sold a keyword list in months. And whats with the domain redirection IP thingy? And if he didn;t get close to the 54K wouldnt he just cancel the auction? if he was really eanring as much as he claimed, he wouldnt let it go so cheap. Cmon And googlest wasn't first. They lauched on April 2005. People have been selling lists since 2003. toppayingkeywords.com for example has been around much longer.
