Google's Webmaster Central- Did it take over a year to notice or to update?

I check my stats for my main site all the time. I worked hard to make sure I had quality links coming my way...Google never noticed. I eventually gave up and then all the sudden by some freakish chance all the link stats were there.

So, did it take them over a year to notice or update? Will it take them almost a year and half to notice new links?

 

yeah google is pretty slow. Sometimes site i havent touched for months just pop up on the first page for their keyword after a long time. kinda weird.

 

It's the same as it is with the PR updates: google doesn't want webmasters to have too much information, so they are slow to give it to us. This doesn't mean google search wasn't impacted by those links earlier.

 

agree.Google webmaster tool is slow but it's a good tool anyway.

 

They (webmaster central) just started showing more complete link data in the past few months.
